Image on Invite??

Kristen, on May 29, 2018 at 5:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Has anyone done a picture on the actual invite? I'm going to order invites somewhere online (think VistaPrint, Shutterfly), and I noticed that many of the templates have an option to add a photo on the back.

We are pretty sure we've decided against STDs because we are trying to find places to save $$

IMO, pictures on an invite are only appropriate for a casual wedding.

I don't see why not! I've never seen an invitation with a photo on it, but I have seen some of the DIY invitation kits that encouraged that kind of thing. Depending on your style, you can use a dressier photo or something more casual.

The last wedding I went to had a picture on the pack of the invitation. It's adorable and I put that side out on my fridge. haha

We have two pictures on the back of our invitation. I went through Minted and it allowed multiple different layouts for the back of this design. I went back and forth between one large picture with a single line of verbiage or two photos.

One of my daughters has a square Tri fold invitation with 4 pictures on it. I've never seen that before but it's really nice and is done in black and white which are the colors of her wedding. The style still conveys a formal wedding, especially given that her ceremony is in a Catholic Church and the reception at a well known high end restaurant.

We have a more formal looking invite on the front of invitation and the back has a picture of us and all the details below it. Everyone told us they loved the picture on the invitation.

It depends on the type of event you're having. A casual wedding will let you play around with more photos, and designs and wording. For a black tie wedding, however, it would not be appropriate.

Our wedding was a beach wedding - however, it was still formal so we went with more classic invitations - no photos.

We used photos for STDs and I will be using for Thank You cards.
