I'm so clueless about undergarments...

Stefanie, on August 9, 2019 at 3:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hey Ladies, so I am trying to figure out what undergarments to wear with my gown...It is a strapless ballgown with a corset. I love it. But, I also one of the reasons I loved it was that I'm definitely looking for ways to save money, it was between this gown and another one (which after trying the other one on again it was hands down this one for sure anyways) but the other one would have required a lot of alterations so that was part of what I loved about this one.

It is a corset so I thought I would have some...flexibility on weight loss or gain, but only on gain they said because they had it laced as tight as it would go. When I tried it on I was not wearing any sort of bra, but after looking at some photos of it on me, and the video, I think I need a little bit of some support so that there isn't any gaping. Which, with my normal strapless (I can't wear it, it has colors) it's cleavage city.

I also don't have any kind of special underskirt in this photo.

So my questions....do I get an underskirt? Does it need it? Will that mean I can hem less off?

What kind of bra? Can I go with just a regular strapless because it is already corset or should I still go with more of a longline full torso covering strapless? Also, considering comfort level here - have you liked wearing those? I feel like I wore one years ago and every time i sat down the ribbing was poking me somewhere.

Gorgeous gown! I don’t think you need a bra especially if you have a corset. You could try a backless sticky bra though if you wanted.

They can sew in cups for a bra, I'd reccomend that before stick on bras because stick ons tend to come off.
Also I don't think you need anything more, that dress is gorgeous and flattering.

I agree with Kelly, talk to a seamstress about adding cups to give you a little lift. The dress is beautiful on you! Congratulations!

It seems like it fits perfectly! If it feels too loose maybe just have it taken it a bit on the side of the bust?

Sewing in cups is a good idea. it shouldn't be too expensive. You dont want to deal with a strapless bra on your day!

That is a gorgeous dress and looks like it fits you perfectly! I wouldn't wear anything - you don't need it!

I would see if your seamstress can sew cups into the dress. That way you don’t have to worry about wearing a bra.

I’m very petite and have DD’s. I use gaffers tape in my strapless dresses. (Google Kim Kardashian tape trick) the tape keeps them right where you want them. I do recommended taking off the tape in the shower or with oil because it is SUPER sticky and ripping it off like a bandaid is a BAD idea.
