Im second guessing my wedding dress...

Earazona_, on February 19, 2020 at 10:41 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
Anybody else done this? Its not the dress, its the price thats making me second guess whether or not I should stick with it. Im somebody who has trouble buying things for my self. The dress is $1,181 before alterations and the veil/shoes. I made an appointment at David's, to see if I can find something cheaper. But I need to know if I'm crazy? I love my dress, I even had my teary eyed bridal moment with it! Its just the price I can't get over. Im second guessing my wedding dress... 1

Nope not the price but I questioned if I want another dress. Go back and find something cheaper if you want and then use the other money for additions but if you love it then have what you want.

I think that any other dress you try on, nothing will compare to your dress.

Yikes! That is a tough one. I knew I would fall in love with the pricier dresses so I had to set a cap on what I was willing to spend and not even tempt myself with those out of my price range.

You look beautiful and happy in that dress. I'd make a pros and cons sheet. YOU are worth more than 2k easy, but you may want to spend the money elsewhere on your big day. You are priceless, but definitely look at your budget.

Other ways to cut costs... Borrow a veil! It can be your something borrowed or something old for your wedding. Smiley smile Shoes I'm weird about sharing... wouldn't even share shoes with my sister, but thats another thing you could potentially borrow.

Have you looked online to see if you can find your dress on poshmark? Brides post up their worn dresses for super discounts. Another great option if purse strings are on the tighter end. Then you can alter it so it fits you perfect at a lower price point.

    Best of luck!

Could you find the same one used elsewhere? I’ve seen some brides here do that

This dress is BEAUTIFUL on you. It literally looks like a fairytale dress. And you can just see on your face how much you love it!! In my opinion, it is so worth the cost to be find a dress you love and one that you are happy and comfortable in.

I also had second thoughts on my dress because of the price. It was way more than we planned and we didn’t really consider that when we bought it because we were just so excited. Even if I was able to exchange the dress I don’t think I would. I don’t want to look back at my wedding photos when I’m 60 and think “dang I wish I would’ve kept my original dress.” I’ve heard my sister say so many times that she wishes she would’ve kept looking. I don’t want that feeling. So since were over budget we are cutting back on other things that aren’t as important. Before I was going to buy metal lanterns for $20+ a piece. Now I’m going to be making wood ones for $5 a piece. We’re are doing online RSVPs which will save us $200-300. We got Sola wood flowers for our centerpieces, saving us about $1,000, we picked the $900 DJ instead of the $1300, and our cake maker is making us a two tier cake and then cheaper sheet cakes to serve everyone, etc.
If you love this dress and don’t think it can be replaced, see if you can alter your budget in other areas!

You won't necessarily find a dress cheaper at David's. Sure, there are cheaper dresses but will u fall in love with one? Mine was $1100 at David's before accessories and alterations.

I feel you. I just bought my dress Sunday and I'm already second guessing. Mine was 1400 and that's before alterations but I love that it has a vintage feel to it which I've been dying to try and find for the longest time. I'm just at a loss.

I agree though. If it's just the price that's getting to you, you might unintentionally go to other appointments with the mindset that no other dress will compare to the one you have now. Whatever happens, good luck.

Look online! I bought my dress full price for $1860 and then found someone with my exact measurements and height selling it for $900. I wouldn't have even had to get that one altered... but it was too late. If you can't find it, I'd say keep the dress and find other areas to cut your budget down. It's YOUR day! You look gorgeous in that dress and if it gives you the bridal feeling, I wouldn't compromise that to shave a few hundred dollars off. Smiley smile

I say keep it if it is in your budget. You look so happy in your dress and it sounds like you had a moment at the salon. My dress was $2000 and I didn't cry at the salon, but I was pleased with how I looked so I bought it on the spot and have not looked any more.

Personally I think that with your wedding dress, it should be one that makes you feel absolutely fabulous. Maybe you could save some money elsewhere in the wedding budget. It's likely that with another dress, you still won't be able to get your favorite one out of your mind and wish you were in it on your wedding day. You look beautiful in it!

You look absolutely glowing in your dress! I love the material and the cut! If you love it that much I say 100% stick with it.

If you change the regret might be more than what you feel now about the price.
