I'm moving countries...when should i buy my wedding dress?

Hello all! I have a bit of a dilemma...

My wedding is not until Feb 2021 in LA and I haven't started shopping for my wedding dress yet. I am moving from Toronto to LA sometime August or Sept 2020. I heard that I need to get a dress around a year before the wedding but I'm not sure if I should even start looking in Toronto. Should I buy a dress in Toronto and just ship it to LA? Or should I buy a dress in LA once I move in August, but would it be too late by then?

I would love you guys' advice!

I would suggest to purchase a dress in Toronto and bring it with you once you move back to LA. You can ship it or I've heard airlines let you take it with you as a carry on as long as you notify them with time.
5 months to look for a dress will cause you stress and you will also need to include alterations in that time frame.
