I'm gonna cry-- makeup

Kristina, on April 2, 2012 at 1:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

I cry at every wedding, and my wedding has me super emotional, my Gommy (grandmother, god partent and adoptive mother) passed and she was the only person I cared to be there, So, I know that while I will be happy, a good protion of the ceremony will be tears of wishing she was there. I am ok with crying, I know it's going to happen but do you ladies know of any super duty water proof makeup that I can purchase for the big day? This way I won't have it all over the place. I hate to buy it trial and error and waste hundreds of dollars in make up if it's avoidable.

So sorry for your loss, have you thought about eyelash extentions? At least then you wouldnt have mascara running down your face.

Maybeline's Lash Stiletto(the waterproof kind), Maybeline Great Lash Waterproof, or Lancome's Hypnose Waterproof. Honestly I think that Maybeline makes the best drugstore mascara, and I love Lancome mascaras. Only applying it to your top lashes helps too.

I have, and I will probably use them. But then I have eyeliner, foundation, None of the foundations I have stick real good. I use maybellie and loreal, I change it up for my skin, I break out if I stick with one. I am in need of good water proof or all day stay eye shadow, blush, foundation, eyeliners, etc. I also have a stylist who wants to do my makeup, does anyone know if they have good quality stuff that sticks?

There's a finishing spray that will set your makeup. My MUA used that and my makeup stayed on even when it rained on us unexpectedly. Are you doing your own makeup or are you going with a stylist?

MAC foundation works really well and it sticks, but it feels very heavy on the face, I also like their eyeshadows. Try MAC or Sephora, they are kinda pricey, but worth it.

For the blush, have you considered a cheek stain?

Thanks Ladies. @ Pan S. I want the smokey eye look and I am just not great with that. I will have my stylist do my make up when she does my trial hair and we will see. I am just hoping that her stuff sticks, if it does not, but I like the way it looks, i will bring my own for her to do. Where do you go to get these brands? I am a small town girl who usually sticks with Wally World!! But willing to spend on what works!!

Opt for a TUBE Lash mascara - Loreal makes one that is fantastic. It's waterproof and when you do go to remove it, you won't be left with any smudges.

Use Make Up For Ever's Aqua line of cosmetics. They were designed for theater dancers and are waterproof and don't run. I use the eye liners and lip liners on almost every bride.

Aibrush seems to be more waterproof than traditional makeup. It was designed for use on tv and film where the hot studio lights can cause the actors to sweat. It looks flawless and doesn't streak when you cry. (As long as it's a professional quality airbrush foundation) Certain consumer brands will streak. I like to use airbrush makeup because it is so light and doesn't require powder to set it so you won't have cakey or heavy feeling makeup.

Be sure to prep and prime your skin before applying any makeup. I also suggest purchasing a good, quality makeup sealer such as the one from Cinema Secrets to lock in your makeup.

I'd tell you to get your makup done professionally. Airbrush makeup won't run when you cry, and they will have super waterproof mascara for you.

And if you're concerned with budget- the price you'll pay for a highly qualified makeup artist won't be much more than you'd pay to buy the high quality products you need to DIY.

Salon stylists may not carry professional industry makeup products. They usually purchase lower end brands that will not hold up for an entire day. Schedule your trial in the early morning to see how well the makeup (and hair) will hold up throughout the day.

Most of those brands are department store ones. Or look up if you live near an Ulta. It's a store that has pretty much every brand of makeup. You can also ask the ladies there for advice or recommendations.
