Ignored the warnings about not splurging on a photographer....

And everything worked out!!!

I was SO nervous because all the wedding boards told me to splurge on a photographer or I would regret it. I only had a budget of 1k for photography and there were only a few within my price range. I went on wedding wire and thumbtack, got a lot of quotes, and then researched their past images very intensely to make sure I liked what they were putting out.

I ended up booking someone I found of Thumbtack - Visual Etiquette and he charged me $900 for 7 hours of photography, editing, and full digital access to all my photos. We ended up with 1600 pictures and some of them are just incredible!

Moral of the story is - stay within your budget, do what feels right to you, and research! Anything is possible.

These look fantastic! I think it’s a great reminder that “splurge” is relative to your overall budget. Also doing your research can really pay off, don’t go with the first
photographer (or any vendor really) just because you think they’re the only one In you price range. You could find a hidden gem. Looks like your day was beautiful and a whole lot of fun!

Beautiful!!! (I really love the “outside of venue” shot!).

Just goes to show....every situation is different, and while a lot of the standard advice does apply to a broad spectrum, and often is “tried and true” for a reason, sometimes you just have to have the confidence to do your own thing! I didn’t have a professional photographer, or a seating chart, or assigned tables (despite having over 100 guests) I bought my knee length dress at JJs House, we didn’t have a bridal party and DH and I walked down the aisle together....talk about bucking some trends! And yet, for so many reasons, we will never ever ever forget it. It was perfect in every way that perfect mattered to us!

Your photos are gorgeous! Blog worthy beautiful. I didn’t have a big budget for photos either, my budget was too low for even Craigslist. That was a pretty depressing moment. I decided that having good photos was important to me but it’s a small wedding, we don’t need all day coverage! So I paid for a pro with gorgeous photos that is allowing a pay-by-the-hour option because package deals were absolutely outside the budget.
”Splurge” within reason! No one should have to feed their guests saltine crackers just to afford the photographer.

Those are beautiful. As a PP said, 'splurge' is dependent on personal budget and the location you're at. Our estimated pricepoint was between 1k-2k, so 1k wouldn't have been splurging for us!
