If your hotel has a free shuttle service....

Tess, on October 17, 2019 at 2:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Can you share the name of the hotel? I have read a lot of posts explaining that hotels sometimes offer free shuttles to and from the venue. We are already pretty maxed out on our budget. Our venue is 15-20 minutes from a downtown area and costs about $30-$35 to Uber. In addition to that, because the venue is somewhat far from downtown, and people tend to want to leave in large groups, I am worried about having access to Uber from the venue back downtown.

I have read one post where a Marriott offered this service complementary.

The best quote I can get from an outside source to do both to and from is around $1100. Really not wanting to spend that!

The Marriott had an option to include bus price in our hotel block price ($159 per night vs. $119 per night), but we didn't do it. We stayed at a Holiday Inn that provided transportation to the wedding venue for guests too! We paid $1,151 per 55 person bus for a 30 minute each way trip (round trip).

We have our hotel block at a Homewood Suites (a Hilton brand) about a mile from the reception venue. It is the top-rated hotel in the area (of 18-20 hotels) and our reception venue is one of the places where shuttle bus transportation is provided free of charge. We got exceptionally lucky!

We have a room block at a Marriott near the reception venue. With a 10 room minimum, our shuttle is complimentary.

We have a Hilton Garden Inn about 30 min from our venue and they’ve told us if we block a certain amount of rooms they’ll split a shuttle service 50/50 with us (making it $350 each)

I've called every Marriott and Hilton-owned hotel in the area and we are out of luck!

We went with the Hyatt and they offered us a free shuttle and a free suite for 2 nights provided we meet out room requirement. We know we’ll have at least 25 rooms booked so I shopped around with hotels to find the best deal for rooms and one that would include a shuttle. Their minimum was 15 rooms and we are in the Chicago suburbs

I reached out to Hampton for our block. They said if we booked 10 rooms the shuttle would be free. If not it would be $150 for two trips out and two trips back for a 12 passenger bus. I'm not sure if that's standard though, they partner with our venue.
