idk why ppl are postponing their summer and fall weddings...

Ana, on April 12, 2020 at 10:38 AM Posted in California Planning 0 7
Maybe I just have a lot of hope that ours will still happen, but why am I seeing so many brides postponing their July, October weddings to next year?! I understand if there's a lot of out of town family and friends that are attending but if it's all local ppl then why not wait 2 weeks before the wedding to mention postponing it if things are not better by that time? We all deserve that chance to have our day happen! Don't give up!!

I think it's a personal choice and there are so many factors for each bride. I personally postponed my July wedding to next July because there is just too much unknown for us. We didn't want to miss out on the experience of bachelor/ bachelorette parties if things are still bad. I'm not sure what part of CA you're in, we are in the central coast and they are thinking shelter in place and social distancing might be in place until the end of May. At that point we only have June to finish up planning, get alterations, and just all the other last minute things. If any brides are keeping the faith then more power to them, I hope that their day is exactly what they wanted! Smiley smile

Hi Ana! It's definitely a crazy time of stress and uncertainty for everyone right now!

I know a lot of couples have reached out to their venue and wedding vendors to just ask about Plan B, and others have proactively rescheduled for their own peace of mind! There's still a lot that's unknown right now, especially to when it comes to hosting large gatherings. Making the early decision to reschedule can help you secure a better backup date and you can head off a lot of questions from your guests!

I agree with you. My wedding was already schedule for June of 2021 so I did not have to worry but I have a cousin who is getting married in August. She has not postponed her wedding. I feel bad because not only is it affecting current brides but others who are still looking for venues will struggle.

My daughter already rescheduled from June to August and at this point hopes for at least a 50 guest limit then. She already had a shower, does not want bachelorette party and is ready to be married. There is too much uncertainty for next 18 months (according to experts) for any sense of normalcy until then and she does not want to wait until 2022. Each bride has their own circumstance for keeping date or rescheduling and I truly feel for each and every one having to make such a decision during this time.
