Ideas on reception after courthouse wedding?

Hannah, on July 31, 2017 at 3:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hello Everyone,

So my fiancé and I are were thinking about doing a courthouse wedding due to a couple of reasons. One, half of my family lives states away and can't afford to come here to it and two, the family that's here I don't get along with. Same goes for him. I want to do a CH wedding to save $ as well, since we are expecting to buy a house soon. Anyone have any words they can share on how the courthouse ceremony went, and maybe some ideas of what to do after with family and friends? I want to still have family time but don't have the big bucks for catered food and a bar. I'm anticipating to have it this October.

Thank you! Smiley smile

Go to a restaurant with close family and friends.

Take them out to a restaurant. See if a restaurant has a private room and will do a set price for you. Do not self cater

Or even have people over at your place depending on the size of the guest list and have a catered meal with drinks

We're doing a restaurant near City Hall for our reception. We are hosting 10.

The reception is what costs money. If you still plan to have a reception, getting married at the courthouse isn't going to save a ton.

Sorry, I just combined the whole event by saying CH wedding. I'm aware that the reception is the expensive part lol

A restaurant would be nice, but can also be pretty pricey depending where you go. Having a "backyard bbq" would be relaxing, and fun! For music you could have your phone or ipod play in the background, and for entertainment you could have a few yard games like life size jenga, beanbag toss, etc. Heck- have a piñata! That would be memorable! Smiley smile Just have fun and don't stress, this is your and your FH day, no matter what you decide on after the CH ceremony you guys will have a wonderful time. Best of wishes!

Our courthouse ceremony was fast and funny. Then my husband went to work but brought back a yummy dinner he made at work. It was great. Just the 2 of us, nice and intimate.
