Ideas for welcome bags

Rozenbook, on July 30, 2017 at 2:05 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

What is a reasonable amount to spend on welcome bags? I have a lot of guests coming from out of town. I am trying to budget early for potential costs. Also what should I put in them? My wedding is in the south towns of western ny.

I would check out Pinterest. They have a lot of great ideas. As far as a reasonable amount to spend, it all depend on your budget and how much you'd like to put inside the welcome bags! Xo

I agree with @Angie & also check out YouTube as well!

For my welcome bags I added bath & body works lotion, hand sanitizer, fun socks, mints, Tylenol, a thank you note, & I'll add snacks and water a few days before so they are fresh. Also theres a similar thread going on right now, a poster mentioned soaps and now I am going to add in dove soap because hotel soap is so cheap!

ETA: you can find majority of these things at the dollar store

I think you should keep it simple, especially if you don't want to spend a lot of money on the bags. This isn't something to stress about! Get dollar store gift bags and go to Costco/BJ's/Sam's club or anywhere you can buy in bulk and provide at least one salty snack and one sweet snack, maybe mints or gum, a pack or two of single-dose Tylenol/Advil, a bottle or two of water, and a thank you note. I think anything extra, a lot of people won't use.

Hey there fellow WNYer! My wedding is in the southtowns too and the hotel is 9 mins away from the venue. We bought totes, thank you for coming to our wedding tags to attach with ribbon, water bottles, popcorn snacks, granola bars, a fruit snack, nuts, and mints.

We did it for our dw. My recommendation is dont spend the money! Especially since you don't want to spend a lot. Most of the things we put in the welcome bags were not used and were thrown away. We spent about $15 per family. It wasn't worth it!

We did small bags of chips, chewy granola bars, waters, mints, Advil and I put little "I Do" Hershey kisses into a small tulle bag. With a map and timeline of the wedding events.

I love getting these as a guest so I didn't mind spending the $.

Tap water in Southern TIer of NY is very drinkable, so I would forget water bottles. Maybe granola bars, map and timeline.

A welcome note with an itinerary, important phone numbers and contact information, as well as information about the local area (things to do, restaurants to try, etc.). Snacks and drinks, especially anything local, little packets of Advil, band-aids, mints or gum.

I don't have that many out-of-towners but each bag per couple will have the welcome note with the itinerary, 2 local beers, water bottles, local snacks (Old Bay potato chips, popcorn, Virginia peanuts), chocolate from a local place, and probably gum or mints. There are also a lot of local publications that are free that have information about our area, so I'll grab a bunch of those and add them.

We got married in New England the late summer/early fall and did apples, high quality beef jerky, local gourmet popcorn and home brewed beer by my FH. We coordinated our bags to our wedding colors and personalized the sticker labels without names and wedding date.

I think I spent about $150 total for 20 bags (not including the materials FH used to brew his beer)

I spent $6 a bag total including delivery charge. I'm doing a DW so food is included so I couldn't do chips and water and that sort of thing which is more affordable. I did stuff my guests might have forgotten to pack

For a non DW, I would shoot for $3-4 a bag including delivery charge personally. For ex- Granola bar - 30 cents each (buy a pack), 2 water bottles (60 cents for both if you buy in bulk at Costco, etc), bags for items (33 cents if you buy three for a dollar at the dollar store), mini Advil pack (mine came to 40 cents each), bag of chips etc. That way you're still doing this nice gesture but not spending a lot

I got craft bags at A.C. Moore - 12 for $3.99 plus used coupons. I'm going to include water bottles, granola bars, chips, candy, aspirin, alka-seltzer, gum, mints. I'm aiming to spend under $100 for 20-25 bags. It's doable. We spent around that for my sister's wedding welcome bags last year. A trip to Costco and less than hour to pack bags, we finished it pretty quickly.

Maybe add something unique to your area? Like for my wedding at the Jersey Shore we plan on adding salt water taffy to it.

We went to the local Chamber of Commerce and they gave us stacks of area info for free (maps, guides, etc). Beyond that, a bottle of water, aspirin/Advil, and local snacks (Route 11 chips, peanuts, locally-made moonshine jelly)
