Ideas for slippery shoes

Kim, on November 12, 2016 at 12:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Since you all seem to have so many great ideas I'm hoping you can help me with something. I bought my shoes, I'm absolutely in love with them, but they slide on hard floors. Any tried and true method/product to increase their grip? TIA

Put them on, walk out to a cement patio and do the twist (a few times) or shuffle your feet as you walk about for 2 minutes. This should sufficiently scuff the soles.

You could also try rubbing sandpaper on the bottoms to quickly scuff them up.

If you want photos of the soles (with "I DO" stickers or whatever), take the pics before you scuff the soles.

Have a cobbler add rubber to the bottom. I do that to a lot of my shoes.

When I used to do pageants we would use VERY course sandpaper to rough up the bottoms or use duct tape on the bottom (probably not the best route for a wedding).

Same as pretty much everyone else here. If you need an emergency fix the day of try using hairspray on the bottoms. We would use that for cheerleading so our shoes wouldn't slip on hardwood floors for games/ tumbling. You'll need to reapply if it's an issue all night but it helped a lot.

They make anti-skid pads that you can stick to the bottoms of your shoes. They're kind of like sandpaper pads that have adhesive on the back. You can get them at somewhere like Rack Room Shoes.

There are stickers you can buy with a rough bottom that you put on the soles of your shoes.

Thank you all! I'm going to try some sandpaper first and see if it works.

I've always used fine grit sandpaper on the bottoms of mine to keep them from being sippery
