Ideas for an outdoor december wedding

Heather, on August 14, 2010 at 3:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I live in the south where its typically mild no matter what time of the year. However, im still concerned with a wedding outside in december because of the chance that its cold. Any suggestions? I just don't want a typical church wedding... im getting tired of the frustrations!

Consider a heated tent. You can enjoy the outdoors without exposing your guests to the possibly cold weather... and remember that it is generally colder after dark.

Thank you both. I'll be sure to check that website out! And i did consider a heated tent... do you just rent a tent with enclosures and then the heaters? Do you know anyone who did that and it worked? Im just stressing!!

Contact a local tent rental company. They should be able to provide everything you need. They will also go out to survey the location to let you know exactly what you will need.

Yes, I've supplied a tent for a wedding in Pennsylvania near the end of December. It was windy and about 10 degrees outside, but heaters and the tent walls kept the tent warm. Another thing that is a good idea is carpet. It keeps the ground from feeling too cold.

We have a 60x90 tent w/ walls, floor and multiple heaters in case our TX weather is inclement We make the best of it w/ the tent but IMO for months that are generally cooler or could surprise you w/ snow or wind chill why not just rent a building w/ a heater, lighting, floors and windows w/ a view? It'll cost you so much less money and worries. Not everyone is cut out for inclement weather backup plans, and tents are not inexpensive to rent or accessorize.

With fall and winter weddings we always offer a hot drink as the guests arrive, hot apple cider, tea or a coffee bar. Be sure to prepare your guests for your location by letting them know how to dress - so many girls want to show up strapless for weddings w/ open toed shoes, not good when temps are cool!

We are getting married on the beach in December. Not sure how far south you live or if you live near a coast. we live in Florida so December is the perfect time to get married on the beach, little chance of rain and we wont be sweating our asses off.

Well we luve in south Carolina so the chances of it being freezing are slim. And the whole point in having a December wedding was to be around the decorations!
