My FH and I are planning on going to Iceland for our honeymoon, anyone ever been? Places that are must sees? We are planning on doing the “self drive” trip/tour thing just trying to figure out what areas we should go see! They offer full circle of the country or like north only south only etc. just not sure which is better!

We’ve been to Iceland it’s very beautiful! I would advise picking north or south because the place is large and you would get more out of covering a smaller space!

Where did you go when you went and any recommendations of places that are must see? We are huge into hiking and outdoors so we’re down for anything!

in Iceland next year. My recommendations would be based on how long you’re going for. The south definitely has more places to see but honestly it’s all worth seeing. The city alone is cool to visit for at least a day. once you head south you can stop by the town of Vik, hit the black Sand beach. Spend some time in the south at Jokulsarlon, it is beautiful and can find a good hike/walk along the water. Theres an awesome IceCave out there that you can take a tour out to and take some awesome photos inside.

We went to Iceland for vacation in 2018! We also drove ourselves. We did the southern part of Iceland. It was by far my favorite vacation! We want to go back someday to do the northern part. Depending upon the time of year you will be going, snow can have the roads blocked later into the year in the northern part of the country. I'm unsure of when they open, but a lot of them in the northern parts of Iceland were listed as closed when we went in April 2018.

We stumbled upon so many beautiful waterfalls that weren't on the agenda that tourists on the buses didn't get to stop at.

We did the Skaftafell Glacier hike, which was an amazing once in a lifetime experience!

We also stumbled upon this waterfall that we could walk right up to. I forgot the name of it.Iceland 2

We went to Reykjavik and went to the blue lagoon. Unfortunately, FH was sick and I started to get sick so we did not get to do as much as we wanted. We enjoyed driving through the countryside and stopping in at local restaurants. We got some frozen yogurt as the locals would do on their night out🙂. Drove by the beautiful Hallgrimskirkja. It’s so beautiful there. Blue lagoon is very crowded so be prepared for that if you go there. It was nice but hard to get a spot to relax and be by yourselves.
