Ice for Beverages

Malissa , on October 6, 2018 at 6:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
So my caterer is bringing ice for tea with dinner but we’ll have water and lemonade in dispensers for guests during cocktail hour. We’re only doing beer and wine so my question is do we need to have ice served with the water and lemonade or not if it’s cooled? Everything is self serve so if we do need to set out ice any ideas on what to put it in? What would look better than an ice chest but still keep it cold?

I think you still need ice.

You could do a large ice bucket, but someone would have to keep it filled. Can you add the ice to the dispensers?

Hi Malissa! Will any of your venue staff be staying during your reception? Depending on what your venue is like, you could ask if they'd have an ice bucket you could use and a place to store extra ice that could be refilled for the water and lemonade.

We Americans like ice in our beverages, so yes. As far as style of ice bucket, what style is your wedding? anything galvanized is great for a country, barn wedding but maybe too casual for something more formal.

I would say no. If it is chilled already, the ice won't be necessary. A few people will miss it, but most won't even notice. And self serve ice is always gross and melty instantaneously. I, however, hate ice in my beverages so take that into account when reading my advice.

I'd just get large ice buckets, itll take a while for everything to melt anyways so you should be fine!

Walmart had some ice buckets that were metal around summer time, they may still have them online!
