I think I hate airbrushed makeup !?!?

Mo, on March 6, 2015 at 6:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Okay ! So , I recently had my hair and makeup trial. I loved them both initially . I had them done at 10:00 am . By 6:00 pm my hair was falling (from the up do) and my face was oily . I had airbrushed makeup done for my trial , I've never had it airbrushed before . I am a super loyal tarte user and I don't have parabens in my makeup . I just don't think I liked it the airbrush! Im so conflicted . Also I have very clear skin and since I've had my trial my face. Has been broken out . I need advice ! Also I've already put my deposit down ! Smiley sad

You could be allergic to the stuff in the airbrush make up.

When I first started wedding planning I was positive I wanted airbrush makeup. Then after looking in to it I learned it isn't for everyone. It is harder to re-apply should there be a need to, i.e you cry at any point. And it doesn't always go well with everyones skin type. If you're not completely happy I'd say don't do it.

Let your MUA know what happened and what you think of it. Give them feedback. Perhaps go for another trial and try regular makeup so you can see how it feels.

I also avoid parabens and use Tarte but I LOVED airbrush makeup. Maybe you just had a reaction to the brand they used. Ask your MUA if she has a different kind or find someone else. I had 4 trials before I found the right person. You might have to lose out on the deposit but it will be worth it to find someone better.

There was a MUA on here who used to tell us that airbrush is a technique to apply foundation, just like sponges or brushes, so different artists may have different outcomes. She wore non-airbrushed foundation on her own wedding day. It sounds like you might be better sticking with something like Tarte? Either way, sounds like both trials were a flop and I'd look for someone new.

The problem is too we're having a destination wedding & that was my last chance to go visit before the actual wedding . Maybe if it's a technique she can use my tarte & airbrush it ? I wanna be able to fix it if I cry though ! I mean I will cry ! Maybe I can find a waterproof foundation she can apply for me .

There are different types of airbrush makeup, most popular are water & silicone based. Water based is usually the culprit if the skin is over-producing oil. I prefer a silicone based airbrush makeup for my oily skin, water based is horrible for me. Water based makeup is usually the problem when people complain of the makeup showing their age lines too. Airbrush done properly does the exact opposite, it softens age lines b/c it does not have weight & therefore it does not settle into pores/fine lines/wrinkles accentuating them like liquid & cream foundations do.

Good luck on whatever you decide!

You may need to try a different airbrush formula or makeup artist. Airbrush is a skill in itself & a lot of makeup artist do not do it well!
