i think 11pm is too early to end the reception :(

So, I do not want to sound rude at all but I find it crazy to spend so much money on a wedding that will end at 11PM. Between the ceremony, photos, speeches, cake and saying Hi to everyone when will the couple have time to actually dance, eat and drink? Am I the only one that thinks like These?

No! I wanted my ceremony to go until 12 or 1 but they shut the gates at 11:45 and everyone has to be out by then or they're locked in. It's crazy to me that in paying over 6 grand and have to close the party down early. That puts people leaving at like 11:30 at the latest...which means we need to have our exit at like 11/11:15. That's insane to me too...and a bummer. So we're just going to have to do an earlier ceremony so we have time for everything.

So my wedding is ending at 9 PM haha.... Starts at 4 as well. I know it's super quick but I saved like $2,000 doing this and I just really want to get back to my apartment and spend an evening with my future husband where we aren't just full-on exhausted. My wedding is also on a Sunday, so people can simply go home and be awake for work the next day.

I agree! I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but they have such early ending weddings! I’m also half Mexican so that party of me wants to just stay up n party all night! Smiley xd
on the flip side tho, my particular venue requires that all guests leave by midnight so around 11:30 we’re gonna have a sort of “last dance” for myself and the groom and then get ready for the send off and hopefully guests will get the idea. lol I wonder if any of my LDS relatives are gonna try and stay for the send off or just bail out around 8 or 9 Smiley xd (I know families with small kids will thankfully!

I’m in the same boat I hope mine goes to midnight at least but most Venus have time restrictions. Ours will most likely be 4-10 and then purchasing an extended hour to 11. It’s hard, I wish we had the venu till later but don’t want to jeopardize sunlight for our photos. But I totally get where you are coming from!!

I guess it depends on the place and people. Mine will end round midnight, and I know I'll be tired by then.

Our reception will be ending at 11pm as well. I'm sure our guests and bridal party will hit up local bars/pubs after the reception but I'm sure FH and myself will be entirely too exhausted to go anywhere but to sleep by 11pm.

You could always organize an after party for your close guests and wedding party if you wanted the night to go on later.

Our wedding will be from 3p-9p so people can drive home if they'd like to. I, honestly, think that's plenty of time!

Mine was originally going to be 4-10PM but considering the day right after the wedding is daylight savings and we would have had to choose between wedding party photos and photos with my love and I on the golf course I asked to move it up an hour. Now that its 3-9PM we have an extra hour for nicer photos in better daylight. It would have been completely dark in probably less than an hour with the previous time frame.

I think it all depends on your preferences and personality. 11 would be far too late for us, we left my fiancee's vet school ball at 10:30 this year and the last half hour was almost forcing ourselves to stay cause we said we wouldnt leave before then - and that was after sleeping in that morning and me not starting to get ready until about 4pm (it started at 6). On our wedding day we will be in our ceremony at 4 with pictures before that! So will need to be getting ready in the morning - we are shutting everything down at 10 (10:30 if we are still feeling ok as 10 nears). I purposefully picked a venue that required everything cleaned and out by midnight so we could say that we needed that hour and a half to empty it and let the cleaning crew clean. We wont have a DJ or really much dancing cause it isnt our thing, all of our money is going to the food so that will be done by 8:30 - 9 anyway.

Ours has to end at 10:30 per our venue but we’re just going to have an after party. Maybe go to bars or rent a party bus

Mine ended at 10. The venue could only do music until then because it was an outdoor event. Hubby and I don’t like to stay up too late and we had older people there. The rest of our wedding party that likes to turn up went to a bar afterwards while we went back to the hotel. It was perfect lol

Could I ask where your venue is? I am looking for a venue with a late end time and its so hard to find!

The desire to party and never have the night end is a feeling experienced by the couple. It’s an exciting day that’s been planned for months, yet the wedding day quickly flies by. So, it’s understandable to want the party to go on all night. But keep in mind that your guests will have spent 6+ hours at your wedding that day (not including getting dressed, driving to the venue and arriving early for the ceremony). So, plenty of your guests will be ready to leave by 11, or before.

I’ve never stayed out that late for a wedding. Even the one where I stayed till everything was cleaned up, I was out before 11.
