i should be panicking

EmAbrams, on August 1, 2019 at 12:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

You would think I would panic but for some reason I have a level head, at least at this point I do. So here is the story. FH and I originally were going to elope. This is the second marriage for both of us. We have so many friends who want to celebrate with us so we opted for a wedding but we are still keeping things low key. I found a dress on Amazon which I loved and only cost $99. I have a very close girlfriend who is a seamstress who said she could definitely alter my dress. There were several issues with it, but what did I expect I bought it online right? Anywhoo....Our first opportunity for a fitting was yesterday. Mind you, yesterday we hit our 30 day mark. Sooooooo I went over to her house yesterday, tried on the dress and her response was " yeah...you need a new dress, I can't fix that." Needless to say, I felt a slight sense of panic but it subsided rather quickly. I called my cousin and we decided we will do emergency dress shopping on Saturday. I will try to find something off the rack with minimal alterations needed. If that doesn't work then for sure I will hit the panic button. Wish me luck! !

Good luck! I bought an evening/prom gown as my wedding dress for really cheap so maybe if you go to Macy's or some other store in the mall or whatever, you can find something !!

If you can’t find anything, don’t rule out used! A dress already altered to a bride with similar proportions will be easy to fit to you, especially a corset back. And if they’re used you can easily find a dress for $100-$200

Oh guaranteed, a big city will have tons of options, bridal consignment stores are numerous even in my smaller town. You’ll also have access to bridal shops that specialize in sample gowns, a dress even a year old lowers its “value” and price by a lot and if they can’t display it anymore, they want to straight up get rid of it.

I don't know where you are located or how far you are willing to travel but there is a place in the Seattle area and in the Portland are called "brides for a cause" that's where I got my wedding dress. Even if you aren't in that area I am sure there are places like this all over the country. They are basically used wedding dresses that were donated. They are MUCH cheaper. Got a huge ballgown for $600 so if you are looking for something more low-key I am sure they have something in your price range. Just a thought. Smiley smile

I am about 3 hours north of Los Angeles so that would be quite a drive! lol. But I definitely do some research and come up with a game plan before Saturday. Thanks!!

David’s Bridal has some good online options that you can get pretty quickly. I would also try Macy’s, Dillard’s and other large department stores. Good luck!!

Okay so I know you said you had a bad experience with online but honestly I think you should look into Lulus.

Their dresses are amazing, affordable, and free returns! This is an American based company so its definitely not shady like the China retailers on Amazon.

Plus, their styles are great for a lowkey wedding.

Macys had a dress in their "evening gown" section that looks so eerily similar to my wedding dress that I got from David's Bridal that I had to go over and take a look at it xD so there are definitely a couple of options at larger department stores, especially if you're ok with veering away from white.
