I overpaid for my bridal gown

Shanie, on June 16, 2017 at 10:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

So, it was my second visit to the bridal shop I got the dress and I thought I was getting a great deal. I tried on the dress and felt that it was the one! The clerk told me they were having a 25% sale off the dress but it was the sample size only. Anyway, I got the dress and was happy until I decided to look on line at David's Bridal and saw the same exact dress, brand new for 1/3 of what I paid. All sales are final so I'm stuck with a dress that I now I think is not worth what I paid! Smiley sad

Maybe print out the offer for David's bridal and take it to the store?

Oh, I am so sorry. That is terrible. I agree, though, that it never hurts to ask. All they can do is say "no."

If you love it, you didn't overpay. Try again is all you can do.

My sister had the same problem. Called the shop and asked the price range; they said a maximum of something like 2800 Her budget was $3k and fell in love with a gown they had. Then they told her it was $3500, but she could buy the sample at 20% off.

And guess what? The manufacturer's suggested price was the 20% off number. She had it verified with 3 different sources. She was livid.

Later she found online reviews that mentioned the same problem. I don't think they had designer tags, either. (Obviously no price tags. They quoted what they thought they could squeeze out of an excited bride). She called the customer service number of the manufacturer and complained and they said there was nothing they could do about it, it was a "suggested price."

P.S. She later discovered they had tried to rip-off her friend, for $500 more. She said she saw the gown for $500 less than their quote, at a shop earlier that day, so they "very generously" agreed to match the price.

DB has their own brand, but they also carry other designers. And, that's just sales for you. They make money by getting people to pay full price. The Wedding industry is a racket, man. They play on our emotions and get us to commit, because "what if it's not here when I come back!"

DB carries other designer's dresses that are made specifically for DB. The same exact dress could not have been at the salon. The fabric may have been more expensive or detailing such as crystals.

I'm sorry you are feeling some buyers regret Shanie M. But in reality, we probably all overpaid for our bridal gown because as Jess'girl said, the wedding industry is a racket. If you love it, it's worth it!

Can we see your dress and the DB dress? Usually the dresses at DB may LOOK the exact same, but they don't feel or fit the same at all. Designer fabric is almost always higher quality, hence the higher price.

They did the same thing to me but it wasn't worth the fight.

DB has their "own line" i.e.: they make knockoffs of other designers and sell them as DB. Not to put salt in the wound but it's not the same dress it's a cheaper knockoff. Sorry this happened.

I'm sorry that stinks. Maybe it was really similar but better quality!
