I misunderstood the guest count for my venue

Well, in going over the final layout and plans I realize I was half right. The venue holds up to 120 comfortably in order to have the dance floor or 150 without room for dancing.

It's definitely too late to change the venue but I'm upset with myself for not realizing such a huge mistake. Most of my guests are coming from out of town and can't stop talking about dancing the night away and celebrating with us.

Has anyone had a wedding where tables and chairs were removed after dinner? I'm considering this as an option. Does that take too much time? Would that be weird?

My venue will be moving chairs and tables for dancing.. you just do all the dancing after food. Not a big deal

How big is your bridal party? Can you maybe fit 11 at some of the tables with smaller chairs?

Maybe wait until you get all RSVPs back to get a final guest count, then decide.

I'm not sure why you didn't include yourselves and the wedding party, you won't need chairs for the ceremony but you definitely take up space for the reception.

I think you're gonna be fine because not all of your guests will show up.

@Blair, initially I didn't need to because if we could have 150 then I was fine with inviting 125 as I wouldn't go over 150 even with the wedding party count :-)

I did not count for the vendors :-( I'm thinking I should have signed up for this site a lot sooner or done more research. Although a lot of people in my family are married weddings aren't huge.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to wait on final RSVPs. I spoke with vendor and they can move tables if I want that option. There is a stage at the venue in the banquet hall and they also provided the option of the bridal party or head table to be on stage. I think I like that idea!

We may have to ask about this at my venue. The woman I initially spoke with told me the room could comfortably fit 250, but then when we hired our DJ he said he's worked that venue many times and thinks 200 is tight. I was like, well shit, I'm inviting 200. Hopefully Ill get a good percentage of declines or they'll be able to move some tables.

You might not get every one attending. Also here they move the tables off the dance floor all the time. Seats aren't lost, but they are just moved closer together. If you are having a sit down dinner it gives guests a chance to get up and walk around. If the venue are used to doing this it causes very little disruption as only a few tables need moving. Talk to the venue check out your options, but wait and see what numbers you get back it might be fine.ETD I just saw you have been talking to your venue. Great that they can accommodate you.

My best friend got married in lake George last year and tables were removed in order for there to be a bigger dance floor. It was perfectly fine! everyone danced the night away and had a great time. Can the venue line up chairs along a wall? (like the school dance days?) this way people can have to option to sit if needed.

Like i said this worked out great for my best friend. it may not be ideal but it works! don't get to upset enjoy your day!

Also make sure you accounted for vendors they eat and will need to sit as well.
