i have to provide mp3 to videographer?

Gloria, on February 22, 2018 at 3:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I hope I'm posting this in the correct group. So we booked our videographer and it turns out he's requesting us send him 12-15 songs in mp3 or m4a format. Is this what usually happens? I understand maybe giving a list of songs we would like to incorporate into our video but he is asking us to send him actual files. He specifically says not YouTube links or just a list of song names. Does every videographer request this?

Next question is where is a good place for me to search for downloadable song files? 12-15 is quite a lot in my opinion.

Hmm, so you would have to pay iTunes or something for the songs since you can't link the songs from YouTube?
My videographer wanted 30 songs, but we were able to link to YouTube through Dropbox and it was pretty simple.

Our videographer isn't requiring this so I'm not sure if it's typical but it sounds odd. The only way I can think of getting those songs that aren't rendered from Youtube would be to buy them through iTunes and put them on disc/drive/etc. But I wouldn't want to pay for 12-15 songs especially since I only listen to music through Spotify so it'd seem like a cost I wouldn't want to pay personally. But I'm not sure about other options, never had to look for that option.

Ours has a list of songs that we'll be able to choose from for background music. That's a lot of songs to download just for this. I would talk to him about it. I don't think it's typical.

Ok I'm glad some of you are on the same page as me thinking this is kind of odd.

@Nas wow you had to choose 30 songs?! But yea choosing YouTube links is much easier, I would much rather do that haha.

We didn't have to do this for our videographer. He actually picked the song for our video.

I think that's kind of lazy of the videographer. For what they charge, they should include the cost of downloading music.

I totally agree! Unfortunately we weren't made aware of this until after we signed the contract.

My videographer just wanted the name of the songs and artists we wanted. I'm surprised that your one is asking for the actual file.

Go to youtube to find the songs. Find versions with lyrics not music videos. Also pull up a tab with a you tune to mp3 converter. Just Google that. You can copy the link from somewhere below the you tube video and paste it into the converter. I hope that makes since and helps
