i have braces :(

Soon2beMRSWilson, on June 26, 2014 at 10:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

So i was hoping my teeth would move just right, before the wedding. But no. I still have 3 months. I have an appointment this monday for a tightening. I was going to get a color change. Anybody have braces that know a subtle color to put on where it may not really look like i have them? I wear royal blue usually which is one of my colors but im not looking to match. I want it to be slightly hidden.

Just get clear...or can you have them removed and put back on? I know people do that, but I'm sure it's expensive...

Ask if they have clear. if not that maybe silver to match the brackets! don't do white or light pink they usually change color from certain foods

I would go with clear if they have it. If not, silver. Definitely don't do white because they can change colors and get pretty gross looking.

DO NOT GET WHITE - I made that major mistake once for junior year pictures. They were nasty stained within two days (I ate cherries or blueberries and it turned them reddish brown and it looked like blood). You can absolutely see it in those photos. I usually did black bands or dark green or dark blue because they did not change color.

When I had braces in high school, I used silver every time because it was less noticeable.

Thank you ladies i actually dont have any kind of rubberbands on my bottoms because there is a wire twisted around. I have noticed it is much more subtle than my actual color. When i first got them i researched them and realizeed white is a definite no go. I will probably try silver. Maybe the nurse will know the best decision. I had one nurse that just got married with braces. Im not ashamed of them i just hate that soon after they will be gone and i will have wedding pictures with them. I always smile so big too because i love smiling. And on my wedding day im sure ill have that stupid grin i get when im around my FH.

Can you get your braces temporarily removed for your wedding day?

Don't do the clear, they yellow fast! but i always got gray/silver, so it blends in as much as possible.

The only hesitation I have about removing them before the wedding is being sure you'd have enough time to get your teeth nice and polished and whitened. I know sometimes there are marks on teeth after someone gets their braces off (since they couldn't get to that part of the teeth to brush it) and there are weird stains on every tooth. If you get them removed, give yourself enough time for those stains to be gone.

For discoloration of the tooth, I think it depends on how well you've kept up with cleaning and how long you had them on because I had mine for a year and a half and my teeth were all the same color when I got them removed. No discoloration or marks. So if you haven't had them for too long and have kept up with everything that comes with braces (they're so annoying!), you may be able to get them removed for that day.

I dont really wanna remove them. I mean for one i dont have that money. My parents are paying for them and my mom already said absolutely not. Second i began taking better care of my teeth after getting them so i can tell that they will more than likely be darker underneath. I will try silver. I just hope it looks good because it makes me worry it wont and i wont have another appointment to get them changed. So kind of have to deal with them. And then be even more dissatisfied. I get married in 16 days. And my appointment is the 30th. So only 12 days after that ill be mrs. Wilson. I dont know why i worry because i know in general we get so many photos that ill be happy no matter what.

Ask for a mirror before leaving. My orthodontist always gave me a mirror after giving me new bands (even though I always used silver). That way you can change them out if you don't like silver.

My braces were removed about 2 weeks before the wedding. Sorry that you still have to wait. I had clear on top and silver in the bottom. I always got silver bands on the bottom and the glow in the dark on top because they stained less than the plain clear. I never noticed them glowing so I couldn't tell a difference. Also if they stained by ortho would always change them as needed for free. Just speak with your ortho office for the best options.
