I have 13 tables so far...

Sarah, on June 5, 2009 at 8:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

I was doing an early ... very early ... seating chart and I came up with 13 tables. I know to obviously seat people differently with more at one table, etc. But even if I end with 13 is it still bad even if I name the tables instead of numbers? Will the superstition still be there? instead of 1,2,3 I had thought long ago for commitment, love, embrace, etc. will that take away the bad feeling of 13 tables, even though they would still be there?

Can you tell I am superstitious? Ahhhh

After you do a final head count, and you still come up with 13 tables, then space your guests out into 14 tables.

Are you the type that something else will go wrong and you'll think it's because you had 13 tables? Because some things WILL go wrong, whether you have 13 tables or not...it does for everyone! And trust me, it won't have anything to do with the table number. Now, I really do believe that when you take superstition too seriously, and focus too much energy on something bad happening...it will. (The law of attraction). So only positive thoughts!

Just do away with all the numbers and name the tables. We are naming each table after things that are significant to our relationship. For instance, one table is called "Disneyland Table" because that's where we got engaged, one is the "Linbrook Table" because that's the name of the bowling alley we had our first date, etc.

I think this really personalizes the wedding too. At each table, we are putting a photo of us that represents that place (ie us at Disneyland), with a short description of why we named it that.

    Just a thought!
