My fiance & I are getting married in 4.5 months! I am not exaggerating when I say I have been extremely loving, honest, polite, respectful, & helpful to his entire family whenever chances arise, but this one aunt of his & her new husband have been nothing but back-stabbing, deceitful, awful,...

My fiance & I are getting married in 4.5 months! I am not exaggerating when I say I have been extremely loving, honest, polite, respectful, & helpful to his entire family whenever chances arise, but this one aunt of his & her new husband have been nothing but back-stabbing, deceitful, awful, dysfunctional people towards me, & it won't stop. She is nice to my face & plays the ignorant/innocent card, but then I come to find out that she has spread countless beyond awful & grotesque rumors about me to the entire family (many of whom I haven't even met yet), & they continue to spread it around. Normally I forgive people & move on from things quickly and easily, but I cannot let go of how badly they've treated me. My fiance really wants to only invite his aunt & not her husband, but I don't want either of them at my wedding as they are wicked awful people. I know it's rude to invite only 1/2 of a married couple, but that's what he wants to try & do. How do I handle this? I need advice:-/

Sounds like you could use some support from his family. How about getting his mom to talk to her? Or the three of you talking? Or here is another idea- put her where you don't have to see her in the seating chart. ;-)

I wish I had good advice, but I'm facing a similar situation myself. I really want to not invite FH's uncle (he hit me once, in my house, as I was trying to throw him out for causing a huge ruckus), but I'm fine with inviting his aunt. I haven't talked to FH about it yet because I'm worried about rocking the boat with the rest of the family. FH has a tense history with them and I think he would back me up. The rest of the family knows he hit me and never apologized, but i think his mom and grandparents would react unfavorably if we didn't invite both of them, not to mention his aunt. Quite frankly I don't care if it's rude to invite half a couple if one has physically struck me. Good luck honey. I hope it goes well.

Wow honey, I am so sorry you are dealing with a similar situation. It is far from easy to handle. But my goodness, he hit you and your FH is still okay with inviting him? You should definitely speak to your FH about it...you two are about to be married, and you are supposed to be there for each other no matter how difficult it can be. Try sitting down and speaking to him and voice your concerns and see how he reacts. YOu could also take some of the other comments here...maybe after you speak to FH about this situation, you both could sit down with the parents and talk to them and explain why you are not okay with this...I wish you good luck too! And I hope your day is the best day ever for you! :-)

Oh my gosh, these were my thoughts exactly! Everyone’s being so hateful about not inviting once half. It’s your day, do whatever you want to do because it’s YOUR day!

Hi there! This thread is from 2013, just as a heads up that you'll probably not get a response from OP.

It's not just "your" day when you involve other people ie. your guests. Then you need to consider their feelings, it's just polite.

It’s YOUR day. She wasn’t even a guest yet, she was asking if she should invite. She doesn’t have to consider anyone’s feelings but her own and s/o on her wedding day. It’s not about anybody else. I had clicked on this thread and realized how old it was once I commented. No need to troll on people & try and tell them they’re wrong. Everyone has different opinions on the matter. I personally wouldn’t want anyone at my wedding who I did not like & want there that would possibly cause drama and ruin my day. Thank you. Have a good evening (:

I'm actually not trolling. It's not "your" day is something you're going to hear frequently on these boards, because it's true. I just didn't want you to be expecting a response from someone who is long gone. Good luck with your planning!
