i Hate My Bustle

I just went to a dress fitting and this is what my bustle looks like. Girls with a short train, please show me what your tailor did because these buttons are not okay. They said the only thing they could do is change the buttons to strings.

Oh I don't blame you. The buttons on your gown definitely stick out. My gown has alot of beadwork so it shouldn't be noticeable.

My seamstress did give me the option to make my bustle higher, and have a button just below the last button on the gown, so it looked like it was there to close my dress instead of my bustle. I haven't made a decision yet, but, that's the only option I know of for you.

My mom mentioned something about a fake button up top also. I'm definitely going to ask about an option like that. Fingers crossed that you can't see where the buttons were once they are removed! Good luck with yours!

Have them do a French bustle. It gets tied underneath. Here’s mine, (pinned up) from my first fitting. It payed much flatter once it was finished. It was really pretty.

What length train is that? I have a chapel length and I'm stressing about whatever bustle I'm going to need. I would suggest an under bustle for yours like the PP before me.

That looks great! They showed me a French bustle but it looked like a droopy curtain lol. I might show them this for inspiration, thanks!

Idk girl, but I totally agree with you I don't like the way it looks either!! Did you ask about maybe just one button in the middle instead if three?? Also, I like the other girls idea about the French bustle, maybe you can talk to the seamstress about one of those too!! I'm sure they can fix it and make it look more like something you would want!! Good luck girl!! Don't stress girl everything will work out for you!!

I would say mine is chapel length as well. Definitely do some Google searches so you have more options than they present to you!

I'm going to toss a strange idea at the seamstress... I'm going to need a hem because I am short, and I'm wondering if we can keep the train at current length while shortening the parts that need to be floor length... might let us pull the bustle up higher. I prefer higher bustles or none 😂.

Thanks girl! I'm going back soon and will definitely be armed with these new ideas! I don't know if my material is structured enough to do a French bustle from what they showed me before but maybe something more intricate like above will work.

I believe it was chapel length. What I liked about this bustle is that it left a tiny little bit of train that swept the ground but wasn’t long enough for others to step on. I felt that it for the romantic vibe of the dress.

That's what I did with mine. They only removed length from the front so that my train was maximum length. Wear flat shoes and that might help extend the length also. Good luck!

Your dress is so beautiful. I’m sure the seamstress can come up with a different idea.

My train is a little longer than yours, but you can see in the mirror where my bustle is...
