Beginner February 2020

i don't want a photobooth... but i want something.

Kathleen, on September 23, 2019 at 9:20 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 12
Hi everyone. I am looking for "fun extras" ideas for my February wedding. I have been to so many events lately with a photo booth and while I agree people enjoy them, I don't really want one for my wedding. I debated a caricature artist but I know that can get expensive and I am worried my guests would spend too much time waiting for their portraits to be drawn. I am looking for an alternative "extra" that would work for a winter wedding. I understand good music and food is all my guests really need, but I'm curious to see what other ideas people may have. Please and thank you! 😊

Giant games (cornhole, giant jenga and connect four) are always interactive and fun.

An interactive signature book (thumbprint, puzzle pieces etc)

I went to a wedding where they had a large framed board that was a cartoon caricature of the couple with a background of their favorite things (dog, city line, whiskey barrels....) and they had a ton of markers for people to color it in. Of course they were my artistic friends so this was very them. Not very me lol...

What about a video confessional? Just like reality tv, people can do a little video to you or narrate their tKe on the night

I wanted a photo booth as well, but the pricing was unbelievable and there were none near where our venue is, so we’d have to pay a travel fee as well. So we hired a caricature artist!

I think this is such a good idea ! It's cute. Another thing I saw once was something similar to photobooth except it made a GIF of you instead of just a photo

For a winter wedding? A gourmet coffee/hot chocolate bar, or a s’mores bar!!!

You could do a DIY photobooth by creating your own backdrop and having cute hashtags post a sign right beside it with your wedding hashtag

I didn’t want a photo booth either. I am going the old school Polaroid route. There will be a few available to use, then my guests can tape their picture to my guest book and sign it as well

We did photo magnets that were produced on site. You design the frame according to your liking. It was a unique keepsake that was a big hit with the guests!

Same here...I swear, if I see/hear about another doggone photobooth 😫😵👎🏽. We’re having a destination wedding in Vegas. So, for fun during cocktail hour, we’re having a “close-up magician” walk around, mingle with guests and do slight-of-hand tricks. It fits for Vegas! But for the reception, the only “entertainment” will be eating, drinking, dancing and having a good time.

We are doing a DIY photo booth with a homemade backdrop and props, that way people can just stand in front of it, take their picture and move on. You could also do a selfie station, a dessert bar with a chocolate fountain, pick your own favors, etc
