i don't like the new app

I'm confused why people thought WW was private. It's a public forum. I see users complaining about lack of privacy but are using their real names and photos as avatars. SMH

Yup. It was never private. If you googled anything related to a wedding wire topic, the posts/photos would appear. No need to have an account.

Yes, I don't get the uproar over posts not being private either. That was clearly always the case. I think the bigger issues are the vague and ridiculous restrictions on what we can say and how we can say it, the fact that vendors can't post, and the inability to 'like' posts. The layout of the new forums also shows whoever designed it skipped their Web Design 101 class. Some of the issues are so basic they are laughable! The fact that it now takes 3 clicks (on desktop) to get to the full list of 'latest discussions' is a huge usability error.

I lurked for months on the old forums before posting. They definitely weren’t private then, and I don’t see how this new convoluted layout makes them any less private.

I agree with everything MiniMe said. Also, I miss seeing people’s wedding dates- it was helpful context when looking at a post.

I had my account wiped not because it wasn't private before but because I at least had the ability to control what I wanted publicly available by hiding comments and pictures. I also dont like that all pictures appear at the bottom of the forums page (along with online users).

I do not get people freaking out about their dress pictures being seen because their FS could stumble upon it. How many of these people honestly think their FS is on google typing in their username + wedding dress + weddingwire trying to track that picture down?

I don't like the set up.. I just think I'm not used to it yet

I found WW forums through google searches. Unless the profile is private, You could always see someone's vendors. Any free site like this one (or FB) you don't own your content, they do.

The new app just doesn't function as well. When I make a comment I can't just go back to where I left off. I need to go all the way back out to the forum main page. I also miss seeing everyone's wedding date.

What happened to the stars? I’m so confused

To clarify a few things:

No one's privacy settings were changed in any way! Your profile privacy settings were honored. If you had a private profile on Sunday you still have a private profile now. The details of what having a private profile means are explicitly stated in your profile privacy settings - it just hides your profile page. It does not make any of your discussions, comments, or photos private - it just hides your profile page from view - the exactly the way this has always worked. You can update your profile privacy settings under your account settings on our desktop site.

All posted content in the Community 100% publicly visible to everyone - unless it was hidden by the author prior to 12/18/17, or if it has been removed by our moderators. This is all discussions, comments, photos, and videos posted in the Community. This has been the case since the creation of the forums on WeddingWire over 10 years ago and is (and has always been) explicitly stated in both ourCommunity Guidelines and Terms of Use .

Hold up. It's supposed to all be sunshine and rainbows and positivity. So, I can positively say that the new app is positively delightful. Of that I'm positive.
