Is there a place that gives financial assistance for weddings/dresses?

My heart is heavy because I can’t afford a dress. My family isn’t poor but, I just know they aren’t planning to give me more than $500 to help out with my wedding overall, as my grandfather is very tight budgeted. To start, I have a very big bust, 34-36 H. I am not opposed to buying a used wedding dress it’s just that it’s so hard to find someone who has my style, as well as bust, that I could even fit into. The typical price range of a dress of my liking will be 1,000-2,000. My fiancé will make it happen if I wanted him to, I just don’t want to sink us into a hole in the beginning of our marriage. Plus he will be paying for the rest of our wedding most likely. I know I will probably have to make a sacrifice and wear something I’m not in love with but, cheap. I’m sure all of you know that a dress makes your wedding, Ive always dreamt of it and now that it’s here I just want to cry and really not have a wedding, just use it as vacation money or something, as I don’t want to waste the money on something that I’m even going to like. I know I’m not the only one who’s going/gone through something like this. Any advice, tips and ideas please share!

I agree with PP about maybe renting or seeing what's out there. If you want an online option for a preowned wedding dress https://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/used-wedding-dresses is really good! I also know there is a lot of sales that go on during the year and especially right now. Maybe looking into that?? Facebook market place too I have heard might be a good place as well. You never know! I hope this helps!!

I agree with the people who said to look into local consignment shops and second hand wedding dresses. Whatever you do, I would NOT recommended renting a wedding dress in this situation due to your unusual bust size (I am an H cup myself and I understand what you're going through). Whatever dress you do end up with, I can't imagine that you will be able to get away without altering the bust. I think that a second hand dress or a place like David's Bridal might be your best bet. Just make sure to leave room in your budget for alterations due to your bust size.

I’ll look into that website! Renting probably won’t be an option for me and I’ve looked on Facebook but honestly it’s just outdated dresses for the most part lol. Thank you!

I went to a place that has off the rack/sample dresses. They were so much less expensive for high quality, never worn before dresses. David’s bridal also has mega sales, and has some really nice things.

Check out preownedweddingdresses.com they are usually pretty affordable. They have a lot of designer gowns.

Seconding Kathryn's suggestion for Torrid!! I'm plus size with a large chest and their clothing has accurate sizing info and fits well - and their wedding dresses range from $200-$400. ASOS also has bridal gowns in the same price ranges with extended sizing!

Lulus, Modcloth, and Missguided also have a lot of affordable bridal options!

I greatly agree, I have set me a budget max of 500 for my own dress and depending on the venue we choose either traditional or a park location I may just order of a website like Lulu's. Renting would save you $ down the road as well.
