i don’t feel pretty in my dress :(

Yam, on July 27, 2019 at 10:19 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
I gained weight from an injury I’ve been dealing with, trying to get back into the gym with a trainer but I’ve only got two months until our wedding. I needed to try on my dress again to see the length for my alteration consultations next week and I just feel so defeated.

It needs a belt but I don’t know what else. My waist is really bothering me. The stress from the wedding is making me cry so I have no idea if my feelings are even stemmed in rationality.

I could really use some outside perspective.

I would like to see you in it with out that shirt under there. Just so I can appreciate the top. I don't know how it fits uptop and that's huge. What's wrong with the waist? Yes add a belt. Are you wearing jewelry? A veil? Tierra? Those things make the dress. Don't worry

This is how it looks without the hoopskirt. I ordered a veil but it’s not here yet. I also have a flower crown(pictured) and a pearl necklace from my grandmother.

The top doesn’t zip right now, I’m having a corset put in. That’s also not helping the shape right now.

I think the dress looks good. The type of dress it is looks really slimming. Once you get a corset back put in, it makes it a lot more forgiving and they actually need the dress to be a bit small in order to do it, so you’re in the perfect position. You’re going to be a beautiful bride in your dress on your wedding day Smiley smile try not to stress yourself out too much about the weight, you have the whole rest of your life to lose it and your FH loves you as you are.

Thank you so much. I just want to look good in photos so badly. The dress fit when I bought it so it hurts that I can’t zip it up now.

I totally understand that. Most likely, the only one who will notice or think about it is you. Your family and friends will be thinking about how amazing you look, and how happy they are that you found someone who loves you for who you are, not how you look. I’ve had body image issues for most of my life, so I totally get it and it’s not easy to get it out of your mind, but I can promise you’re going to be every bit the beautiful, blushing bride when your day finally comes no matter what your body looks like. I wish you the best of luck 💚

I think you look beautiful in your dress! The corset should make a world of difference, so try not to worry Smiley heart

I fully understand esteem issues. Remember that unlike in your example photo/right now it will be fitting perfectly after alterations and that should help you feel much better! Plus with hair and makeup done you'll likely be feeling even prettier! Smiley smile

Thanks guys. I dread standing in it because it doesn’t have the corset yet. My mom wanted pics and it just was a sad moment. I hope the accessories pull it together. It’s my dream dress so it kind of sucks I feel so bad in it.

I get it... I'm struggling with a thyroid problem and am about 50 lbs heavier than I want to be. Once the dress is altered and you have your accessories and hair and makeup done, it will be perfect. Your pictures will be beautiful. Don't get discouraged by cell phone pictures of you in the dress now... I was really dreading our engagement photos, but ended up blown away by how much better I looked in professional pictures.

My cell phone is definitely not kind! I gained 20lbs in a very short amount of time because I was bedridden + depressed so I just ate and ate. I’m healthier now but I want my old figure back. Smiley sad You give me hope my pro can work magic.

I found a really nice photographer that understands so she’s going to try to help me relax. I really want even one photo I feel pretty in.

I actually think it’s very flattering and once it’s all done with the corset it will be perfect.

I think the dress is gorgeous! I agree, a belt would look great. I found some on Etsy that I LOVE, but doesn’t work with my dress. http://etsy.me/2j6uaoF
Your dress is only half of the equation...you yourself have to feel beautiful and you will look absolutely stunning!💕

I wasn’t going for a thicker belt but I think it could use it! That belt’s pretty, thanks for the link!
