i Do Tattoos or No?

Cassidy, on August 21, 2019 at 2:01 PM Posted in Planning 1 4
My fiance and I have a groomsman that is a tattoo artist and have done several tattoos for my FH and I individually. We have spent lots of time in the shop with him. We planned on getting tattoos from him before the wedding but my photographer brought up the idea of getting small ones on the day of. Since we are doing a gothic themed wedding it would look super cool. Anyone pull this off? What were the logistics? Things I should consider (outside of the time crunch obviously)?

On the day of might be a bad idea. Tattoos, even small ones take time to heal. They scab up, they get pretty ugly.
How about a tattoo reveal at your wedding? Get it done weeks in advance so it has time to fully heal, keep it a secret until the reveal.

We are going to get some in July that will be more in-depth and bigger that we will get pictures of. My fiance and I are heavily tattooed so I am not too worried about the healing process on a small one for that day of and it shouldn't scab over till the next day. It is just seeming like a logistical nightmare at this point.

Ahh I see! I’m not sure where you could squeeze it in. Like you said about time constraints but also you would need a clean space without a big crowd in the way. Maybe you could do a First Look, cut back on how much time you need for photos during Cocktail Hour and get your tattoos with that extra time if you plan on doing it actually during your wedding.
You two might be too busy before the wedding if you’re doing hair & makeup and such.

I wouldn't want the extra stress of planning the tattoo as well, then having to bandage it and worry about it all day.
