Is this what you want for your wedding?

You need it catered, you need a bartender providing alcohol, and you need to provide a vegetarian option. Otherwise, casual BBQ weddings are usually very well received, if that's what you want.

Just an option because my fh guests list and his mother's is making me worry. I'm kinda leaning towards our close friends and family like kinda small. But do it somewhere that we can have alcohol because the parks don't allow but..... lol. We would definitely cater and only one of my friends is vegan and I always have dishes for her at all my gatherings.

Talk to FH about his guests list. Cut the guest list to keep it small. Maybe you need a permit in order to serve the alcohol?!

I know he wants to party which I'm cool with. But he's inviting all his mom friends and old people just because they have $$$. I'm not even trying to be funny or mean but wth. How you gonna party when half your guests will go home after dinner. Trying to explain to him that at our reception it should be are friends and family that we can have a good time with. So I'm thinking have the church wedding and a cocktail reception or cake and punch and either a casual bbq/party later. Not half the guest list but are good friends who will enjoy the night with us.

Is "I DO BBQ" like a brand?

FH and I are having BBQ style food for our reception. We are doing tri tip, chicken with lemon caper sauce, veggies and potatoes. Mushroom ravioli for me and any other vegetarians. We are also doing tray passed apps and a green salad. Our caterer is very well reviewed and knows our venue very well.

Do you have specific concerns about BBQ style food? Or a specific company?

I really could care less about gifts or money but I think he just sees that part and wants to make his mom happy too.

More like a theme which includes an actual bbq menu. There's tons of restaurants out here that caters and sets up for us.

That's why I'm getting ideas. We know the date, place and time. But the list and reception needs work. We don't argue about its just hard for him to understand you can't please everyone. We have time and the original place for our reception only requires a $100 refundable deposit. And we cant order through the restaurant until 30 days before event. I'll give us until Oct to pick and idea.

My cousin got married last summer and had an I Do BBQ the night before (it was their rehearsal dinner, but they had a really large invite list since we have a gigantic family), then there was a brunch the day after the wedding (with a lot of leftover BBQ).

Both events were totally catered, had booze, and were hosted at his parents' home which has a huge backyard with lots of rented tables set up.

Personally, as an OOT guest, I LOVED these chances to spend more time with my Midwest family, because I don't ever get to do that. I have no idea what sort of extra cost or stress it put on him, his wife, and their immediate families though.

We are serving BBQ, catered in from Joe's in Kansas City. Since it is destination for all of my family and friends we will have a second reception in DC that is an I Do BBQ and much smaller and more casual.

Rustic is not my style but we had an "I Do BBQ" themed engagement party (hosted by my parents).
