i can't sit in my dress!

Any suggestions on reception attire? I chose a mermaid dress and its gorgeous! But....no one told me to sit down in my dress before saying yes🤦🏽‍♀️ I think I'll write a book...."Sit Down in Your Dress BEFORE You Say Yes...and other advice for wedding planning"

My final fitting was last week and it fits wonderfully! I had my corset on and got in the dress...and I went to sit in a chair and couldn't exxxxxactlyyyy bend enough to do anything other than "perch" in the chair lol. I'm not sure whether its my corset(as I wear it often and owned it before the dress) or the combination of both? Either way i'm about 38 days from the wedding...sooooo I need suggestions!

I’m in the same boat 😱. I fell in love 😍 with my dress in February. It came within two weeks they did all my alterations. I danced in it even 💃 Jumped un it. But one day at home I wanted to put it on so my daughter can do the bustle and lord and behold I was trying to sit in a chair and couldn’t my heart just dropped. Mined you I had 4 people with me that day and no one caught that I didn’t set down 😱. I’m guessing am going to stand all night which FH is upset 😠 but I do love my dress.

I believe there are videos online (restricted access right now at work or I would tag) I had to do this for my hoop skirt. lol I sat down and it flew strait up haha couldn't have that happen day of lol

Also, if there will be stairs at your venue, make sure you can go up and down the stairs in your dress.

I don't have advice but I have a somewhat funny story. When I was in high school a friend's mom made me a beautiful civil war style gown. She used to work reenactments, so she was very by the book. Meaning all my undergarments were correct as well, a corset and hoop skirt. Before I left the day of she grabs my arm and goes 'wait, I need to teach you how to sit!' Turns out if you don't pull the hoop skirt up a little before you sit, the whole thing flips up. So I also learned the 'sit before' lesson.

OMG! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS DRESS! actually, I just ordered it today! What did you end up doing?! Did you figure out how to sit/ perch? I'm freaking out... please give me some advice!

I have a fit and flare and it’s super tight around my hips, but I also round my back a bit (bad posture) annnnyyyy idea what to do? Keep wearing it and getting ready for the day?!

I know this is an old post… but my seamstress told me to hike up the fabric around my upper thighs and hips and THEN sit down. This makes it so there’s more fabric and you can comfortably sit.
