I can't find a dress I love!

Maui K, on July 2, 2016 at 2:49 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 34

After going to 5 stores and trying on about 20 dresses I still haven't found one that I absolutely love. I hope I eventually try one on and love it immediately because right now I've only found a handful of dresses that I think are "eh".

Wedding is a DW in Hawaii so I'm trying to find something light weight, but I also want it form fitting. Sheath is too loose for my body type, and mermaid dresses are great but flare out too much at the bottom and are a little heavy.

I would say try to narrow it down by silhouette first, then tackle material preference, then detail. I had no idea what I wanted so we did it that way and it worked. What about a fit and flare?

Also, since you're looking for something lightweight, look at bridesmaids dresses. Many brides will just wear a white bridesmaid dress. My friend did 2 years ago and I was the only one who knew it was a bridesmaid dress. It looked great.

I think chiffon is perfect for your type of wedding. It is very light and flows beautifully.

First I searched the Internet and narrowed it down. I found a store that had my dream dress and went there. I tried on a few others but mine last. I knew it was the one. Good luck

After trying on a million dresses (slight exaggeration) I figured out exactly what I wanted but it only existed in my head. I ended up buying a super plain dress is the right silhouette and we are doing a lot of customization to it to create the vision in my head. Don't be afraid to customize if you can't find what you want!

I suggest downloading The Knot 'Lookbook' App and search wedding dresses.. They have so many amazing choices.. Favorite the ones you like and then go try on those specifically?

Don't get discouraged. I went to 4 salons and tried on about 40 dresses.. Before I decided on my dress.

Have you thought about a slim A-line in charmeuse? It's a light, silky fabric that drapes and hangs beautifully - gives a sheath feel, with a more fitted bodice and hip.

I tried on these dresses and liked parts of them. I really like the one with a straps but I don't feel like it has a Hawaii wedding feel!

My family LOVES this one on me but I'm not sure if I like that it's ivory/nude, and I'm not sure if it is flattering

Ours is a destination wedding on Hawaii too. Have you tried any Katie May dresses? Also BHLDN has some nice flowy and lightweight dresses. Mine is a Truvelle (Canada designer) which I absolutely love. If you like Boho, you could try Grace Loves Lace.

I also tried some pretty strapless Allure gowns and a pretty Maggie Sottero (Patience) that would have been good for a destination wedding.

I'm not a fan of 4. You have a great body and can pull off the shape, but not a fan of the top. Are you drawn to lace? BHDLN has a lot of dresses with lace tops and flowy bottoms.
