Dedicated October 2020

i can’t decide

So I’ve been going crazy. I’m supposed to get married October 23 (I’m in Florida). Our original venue is closed and I know many people won’t coMe but the church is still open for the ceremony.
We are either going to get married oct 23 and just have a ceremony and let whoever wants to come, come. We will also be saving money for our future home since we aren’t spending it on a big wedding.
OR Postpone the wedding to February or April which who knows if things will be better or not. Also we will end up spending a lot of money since it would be ceremony and reception. Like I said it’s not like things will be normal then and who knows who will wanna travel...I just don’t know what to do we go back and forth and I’m just stressed. Why does my wedding have to fall on this crazy time. What would you do??

If you are okay with not doing a reception, I would have the ceremony and save for a house. You can always do a vow renewal and reception down the road when things are better.

In all honesty, if we didn't already put so much money towards our wedding, we would do the church wedding and save for the house. Our wedding payments started before covid and it sucks but I feel like it's more important since a wedding lasts a day compared to staying in a home. I think it would be the best move especially during this time. You might have to keep postponing/losing out on money or plan for the wedding you want and it not turning out the way you'd hope.

I’m with the PP. if I wasn’t already too far in the deep end, I would just do an intimate wedding with family and friends, save the money, and move on.

I feel ya.. my wedding is in October too and I'm so stressed. Things change every month and I feel like I'm planning a new wedding every month. I already put down a lot for deposit and cannot get refunded.. so I'm trying to have a super small wedding.

If you're saving for a house and didnt pay any deposits, I would try to look for a venue that offers an all inclusive micro wedding. The one venue I recently saw was for 25 people it was $9k. Included 4 hours site rental, cake, horderves, wine and beer bar, flowers, & photographer.

We just postponed ours, which was set for October 17th. With all the restrictions, it just wont be the wedding we want and planned for.
We have also talked about what you mentioned, getting married the day as planned, then going and doing a reception with all the planned guests at a later date. You could also do like a 1 year anniversary wedding/reception next year if you did plan on getting married still this year!

Our wedding is the week before yours also in FL. We have about 50ish planned currently and we are full steam ahead. If this date is special to you and you don't mind not having the venue of your choice, I'd keep the date. Personally, I'd rather save that money and put it towards a home it lasts longer than a party (reception).

Are some of your guest out of time? My venue is currently closed that is why it’s just a big mess now for me.. I also feel a lot of people out of town will not be coming to mine

Everyone is out of town including us. We live in NC and our guests are spread out between NC, IN, CO, and we have 4 in FL along the Gulf Coast - our wedding is planned in the Keys.
