i can’t decide on which dress

Courtney, on November 30, 2019 at 5:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
I drove 5 hours to the Grace Loves Lace showroom in Venice after seeing so many people on here comment that they can’t imagine buying a dress without trying it on first. So I pulled the trigger and took a day-trip to try on six of this designers dresses in person. I decided that I love the “Alexandra” design the best however I absolutely loved the nude underline simply because it felt more “me” and less like a white traditional wedding dress. My only problem is I was solo when trying on the dresses and really just need another bride-to-be’s opinion. I look at these forums daily to help with so many of my decisions and I really just need help with this from a place I know will give me honest feedback and suggestions! I love the design of the dress but want to make sure I’m not choosing the scapegoat option of something less “traditional” simply because I liked it aesthetically more. The nude underline is the first two pics (same exact dress in both, just nude or white underliner)

Ooo this is a tough one. The dress is oh so beautiful. And since they are the same dress the typical questions like which one feels more comfortable or what style did you like better won’t work in this situation. But here are a few questions to think about if you haven’t already. What color dress were you looking for...what was your dream dress color? What’s your venue style?
When I was picking my dress I was torn between two dresses. Very similar style, just different colors (I’ve included them as pictures here). One dress was white or ivory (dont remember) and the other was “gold”. I knew I didn’t want pure white because my venue was white sandy beaches and I’m fairly white (lack the tanning ability). I loved both dresses but I knew the gold dress was slightly different and I wouldn’t feel washed out. I think I literally said these words that day “the white dress would be lovely for a church wedding not the beach.”

So the short story to all this, what makes you the most comfortable and fits in your wedding vision the best?
I wish you the best of luck! I also wanted to say some online bridal boutiques will allow you to try on dresses at home. So that could potentially be another option for you.

It sounds like you’ve got your heart set on the nude one. That one is beautiful. I really like the contrast it gives. I am also a bride that didn’t want straight white for my wedding and chose a peachy cream underlay with white lace over it. It’s beautiful but definitely not a traditional wedding dress.

I hope I'm not being rude but if you want my honest opinion I would go with the second one. I feel like you only get to be a bride so many times and while the First dress is lovely it looks like more of a bridesmaid's dress. It doesn't look very Bridal where I feel the second one still gives you the appeal of being sexy but then the back in the train makes it seem more like a wedding dress and I feel like on the day of your wedding you should have like a bride.

They're both gorgeous on you, but I honestly think that the second one gives you a bit more definition and drama. It's just that to me the nude seems to lack the definition to really make that lace pop, while adding just a touch of white makes that back especially shine through. If you like the nude more, go with that! It's about what makes you feel beautiful and confident.

Something about the all-white dress, just pops on you. The more I look at the pictures I wonder if it is because you seem to have better pictures of the white one. But you look as if you feel more comfortable and confident in the nude one.

Overall this is what I think: I love how mermaid dresses look on brides, but it is not me. You have to go with a dress that presents your personality. This is my second time being a bride (although I can't even count the first one, technically) and my first dress was not me at all, so basically I felt as if I was wearing a costume the whole day. You want the dress to flow on you and you feel comfortable wearing it--- when people see you, you don't want them to say "Oh gosh, I would never imagine her wearing something like that" :-) (people that are close to you that is). Hope it makes sense.

I have to agree with PPs. The second looks a liitle more elegant and bridal. But you should go with the one you feel more comfortable in!

Both are gorgeous dresses, but my pick would be Dress 2! It looks more bridal to me Smiley smile

Number one I absolutely adore that dress. I saw it and fell in love with it too, but yeah was too nervous to just buy a dress without trying it on. Number two go with your gut. They both look amazing - if the nude is more you, go with the nude! I personally don’t think a dress has to be bright white to be “bridal” so go with whatever dress you feel best in!

I like the first one. I like that you can see the details of the lace.

I wore the Rosa with a nude lining so i 100% understand why you’re also in love with a GLL nude lined dress. However, i do love the Alexandra with the ivory liner. I think the overall dress pops a bit more because of the neckline and train whereas there’s no real direct focus with the nude liner.

The nude lining looks MUCH better than the white lining on that dress. The white kinda “cheapens” the look of the dress.
