I can't be the only bride with fat feet, right?!

Amelia, on July 10, 2017 at 1:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

I have done Google search after Google search. I have browsed several websites: Macy's, Zappos, Nordstrom, Dillard's...maybe others. I have walked the aisles of DSW. I can't seem to find shoes that fit my chubby feet. I'm a size 9 or 8.5W. Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can find ceremony shoes? I have a pair of gold Chuck's for the reception but if I can find something more "bridal" that would be awesome. I ordered two pairs of wedges from David's Bridal but returned them because I swear that even though they were wides, my feet looked like sausages stuffed in a strappy wedge.

These are one of the two I tried fro DB. Just seems like my foot hangs over the sides even though these are wide... Smiley sad I'll post the other in another comment. I'm on my cell.

And here's a pair from DSW. I've just concluded I'm a lost cause. Haha. I'd love to splurge on Tieks, bc I'd still wear them after the wedding and something like the ones above, I may not. But I'm afraid to drop $200+ on Tieks.

I ordered custom shoes from Shoes of Prey, they have wide and extra-wide widths available. They're not cheap, but the quality is great.

Try Torrid or Eloqui. They have lots of Plus-size, fashion forward options. Edited because I just saw that you said you checked Zappos.

I have wide and chubby feet as well. Online searching did little to ease my anxieties because I know even wide width shoes often end up still being too narrow or occasionally too wide. I would suggest, if you can, going in store anywhere you can find. I found shoes (nude wedge pumps) at DSW that fit like wide width shoes but were regular width and super comfortable. It really has to be an in person thing, because I had ordered some online and they were either too narrow or, surprisingly, too wide. If you have any plus size stores around you (Torrid, Lane Bryant, etc.) I would see what they have in-store for you to try on. Also, go into Macy's, Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, DSW, TJ Maxx, Payless, Clarks, Kohl's, JC Penney, anywhere else you can find and browse the shoes to try them on. If they don't have wide width, try them anyway just in case in your size or the next size up. If they do have wide width but they are slightly snug, try going to next size up; sometimes I am a size 6.5 or size 7. When I am between sizes and the larger size is more comfortable, I buy heel pads to stick in the shoe so my foot doesn't slide out and it really does the trick. I know it's a pain to have to go in and try on the shoes, but it's completely necessary when you have wide/chubby feet like us. Don't get discouraged. You'll find something.

There are more than one width of "wide" shoes. When a site says wide, it usually mans "C"

Wide shoes also come in D or EE widths.

Do you have a Nordstroms near you? If so, go in and try on some wider shoes that actually fit your feet. Figure out your actual width.

If you don't hav a Nordstroms nearby, order some online. Order wider (D and EE) not just "wide" (C).

6pm carries quite a few options in D and EE

I second Nordstrom. I go to nordstrom rack every few weeks just on the off shoot they have something "wedding-y". I'm also prepared to wear a pair of tom's wedding shoes if I can't find anything more formal. Comfort is my #1. (I don't have wide feet, but I do have chronically sore feet)

I have wide feet as well. Shoe shopping is awful for me most of the time. I like to get shoes from Lane Bryant as they come in wide width (for real and not just a little wider than normal). I ended up going with a pretty pair of sandals from DB. Our wedding is outside and my dress is very full so nobody will see my feet.

Not only do I have fat feet, but I have SHORT fat feet (size 4 1/2 EE). They're practically square :/ I second the poster above--don't just look for wide, look for extra-wide. Also, don't be afraid to order a zillion pairs from Zappos; you have 365 days to return the ones you don't want (::looks at the box of shoes in the dining room waiting to be sent back:Smiley smile. And Nordstrom is the bomb-diggity when you're looking for weird sizes. Their salespeople and customer service folks are top-notch. Good luck!!

PS: I have red Chucks for the reception ::high five::

I have relooked at Zappos and have found at least 5 options. Now to convince FH that it's ok to order and return what doesn't work. I also spent about an hour designing options on Shoes of Prey! Thanks so much everyone!! I'm excited I now have more options.

I 100% feel your pain and have returned multiple pairs of failed wedding shoes. I got lucky with a great pair of wedges from 6pm.com. Good luck and don't forget to show us what you find!

I wear a 9w, sometimes 9ww, so I understand. I just ordered a bunch of wide shoes from Zappos in a couple sizes and it's definitely okay to return them, they have great customer service. If you have any questions you can usually chat with them or call.

I can pretty much only wear men's Brooks or SAS in most cases. SAS unfortunately doesn't have many fashionable shoes for weddings but I guess it all depends on what you're looking for. Good luck!!
