i cannot lose weight

McKenzie, on August 5, 2019 at 7:21 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 8

UGH I know this has to be frustrating for more people than just me, but I cannot lose weight. I can go to the gym and cut my calories as low as I can without starving but I cannot lose weight! We are getting married ONE YEAR from this Thursday! I already have my dress and didn't purposely get it a size smaller than I actually am, BUT it's a size too small... well was a size too small it's probably like 2 maybe 3 sizes too small now.. I am struggling with my weight right now, I am going to see my doctor on Thursday to be put on Phentermine, at this point I will do anything to lose weight. I cannot walk down the aisle feeling this terrible about myself.. Any tips would be super appreciated and thank you for letting me vent..

Are you counting macros? The people I know started losing weight when they upped their protein intake based on what the macro calculator told them. Also on this journey with you, reach out if you need an accountability partner or anything! Good luck!

Check out my coach’s free FB group, Free to Be Nutrition. There’s lots of great information about eating/macro counting that will help. You may not be eating enough of the right stuff. It seems counterintuitive, but she upped my protein and I’ve started to drop weight in combination with getting back on track in the gym.

Balance your activity level with what you eat. I am in the process of losing weight and wanting to try Keto. Personally counting calories did not work for me. I would look into healthy recipes and just do what makes you feel good. I was down to as low as 150 but now am over 200 because of poor habits and a medication that made me gain weight. Just find what is right for you because what is right for others mignt not be for you

So I don’t exercise but after my neurologist put me on a modified Atkins diet which is basically keto, I have lost 50 lbs since April. You have a lot of time to lose the weight you want. I recommend cutting carbs to help start.

You need to log your food. Accurately. Get My Fitness Pal on your phone. You may be taking in more calories than you realize.
A low fat no carb diet will also work wonders, but you should not do it long term. Your breath stinks, you feel cold and weak when you are in ketosis (burning fat instead of carbs)

Yes I love this advice ! Balancing out your activity level to what you eat is brilliant advice. People think it's one or the other but they go hand in hand.

It's really important to know what kind of calories you're consuming, not just how many. So going off of PP, macros are good to know about and counting them is really simple (I like using My Fitness Pal - you do have to pay for premium I think to see your macros though). If you're trying to lose weight definitely up your protein and lower carb intake - BUT make sure the carbs you are eating are healthy carbs! Veggies, brown rice, sweet potatoes are all super healthy and super yummy options. Also know that carbs and fats are what make you feel full, so when you lower your intake on these and up your proteins you are going to feel HUNGRY. My FH is doing intermittent fasting and has seen good results from it (only eating within a 6 hour window). Or you can try eating several small meals throughout the day (this might be helpful if you are feeling way too hungry on those macros).

I'm not sure what your routine is at the gym, but I would definitely have a good mix of strength building (think of the phrase "muscles are more expensive than fat) and cardio. It's also really important for your body to have rest days too. It sounds like this issue is probably stressing you out and for a lot of us stress leads to weight gain (thanks hormones). Going down 2-3 sizes in a year is totally doable - you got this!
