i bought my dress!! Then i got worried about the size i ordered

I said yes to the dress yay! Its not exactly what I expected I would get. This was the 3rd shop I had been to and already picked out a favorite from a previous store that had really pretty lace (I lovee lace!). My dress i bought doesn’t have the big lace pattern as the other dress did but it was a big WOW as soon as I put it on. And i got it for a great price
So we ordered the dress as a size 12, in general most of the size 12 wedding dresses fit me. According to the size chart I would need to lose 1/2 an inch in the waist. I thought 1/2 inch? No problem that should be fine but then i started freaking out thinking: what if I dont lose the weight in my stomach/waist. And the measurements for my hips was the exact measurement on the size chart, so what happens if i gain more muscle and my legs and butt get bigger (which is what happens when i work out, i get gains in my legs) especially since its a mermaid/fit&flare style, I dont want to barely be able to walk because its tight.
So I made a gut decision and called the bridal shop the next day to order the next size up instead. Now I think what if I lose too much weight lol which is less likely to happen. Do you think I made the right decision by going up 1 size?

In my experience it is always better to go up a size and have a seamstress take it in to fit you perfectly than to order down and hope you can lose the inches in the right spots. It is always easier to take in a dress than it is to let it out. You did the right thing!

I think you did the right thing. It's easier to have them take it in then let it out. As the PP said.

Definitely did the right thing. It is much easier to take a dress in than to let it out. I ordered the size up as I was in between and then I have lost 60 lbs since then and it was easy for her to take it in

You made the right choice! It’s better to go by measurements and the size chart versus how the sample fits you because those samples are extremely stretched out. A seamstress can take the dress in if necessary!

I am right there with you. I wanted to order a size 8 but my mom and the owner convinced be to order a 10. They kept saying "what if you gain any weight?" I knew I would gain a bit but nothing like 2 dress sizes, however by the end of the apt I ordered the 10. Now it is in, and it is big on me, but the owner/seamstress said it will fit perfectly not to worry, it is always best to order bigger then smaller. So 158 days left until I get married and 3 months until she wants to see me to get fitted so we will see. I think it was best to get the size up, like PP have said it is much easier and better to take in then to try and take out. There is only so much fabric they have to work with to make it larger. They can always remove fabric to make it smaller Smiley smile Don't worry

I think you did the right thing. A bit bigger can be taken in but too small is nothing but stress.
