i am having dress regret - Advice please!!

Alisha, on December 31, 2018 at 2:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

Hi ladies this is a long post (sorry),

So I will admit that I can be impulsive when I get really excited for something and sometimes have an issue purchasing things that I later on realize was a mistake. I got engaged in October 2018 and had my dress fitting a week later. I did not expect to find a dress, but of course I ended up finding one and my dad paid for it. A good chunk of my immediate family, along with my FMIL, were there for the fitting and loved the dress and I felt confident and beautiful.

Now fast forward to today, my dress came in last week and I tried it on again and I still do love it but I am having some regret. In hindsight, I wish I would have gone for something with more bling and more beading and I am worried that my regret will continue to grow in the months leading up to my wedding date, which is in March 2020 btw. I know this is pretty much my fault since I was impulsive, but I am really just looking for advice as to what to do. I was thinking of having a beaded belt, but I am just at a loss.

I do have till January 20th to decide if I want to exchange the dress @ DB, but like I said I am lost as to how to get past the twinge of regret I have Smiley sad

Here is the dress (the belt is not included with the dress)i am having dress regret - Advice please!! 1

The dress is beautiful but go and try on more dresses and then see how you feel.

Wow! I think the dress is gorgeous! I would even forego the belt TBH but if you want something more blingy what about a blingy necklace, tiara or veil?

Do you have a picture of another blingy dress in mind?

Posting buddy! We’re both lost haha!
sounds like we’re both impulsive buyers and my only advice is maybe you could shop at DB before the warrenty expires and if something else catches your eye, go for it. But word of caution is since your wedding is so far out, you might change your mind a few times before then and end up in the same situation again. For what it’s worth i think your dress is gorgeous with or without a belt you’ll look like a 10 for sure Smiley smile

This exact thing happened to me…twice. I bought the 1st dress and instantly regretted it. I called within 10 minutes of placing the order to cancel and was told I couldn’t get my deposit back, but I could put the money towards another dress. I bought a 2nd dress because I didn’t want to lose my deposit. The 2nd dress was beautiful, but I agonized over this dress for months - I thought of altering it in different ways and wearing different types of jewelry, but ultimately I started to dread my wedding because of it (sounds pretty dramatic, but true). After months of feeling so uneasy and questioning spending more money on a dress I would wear for just a few hours, I bought a 3rd dress. Family and friends tried to convince me not to, but this was the best decision for me and I do not regret it at all. It’s a shame to lose so much money and feel like you’re throwing it away. For me, I would have been uncomfortable the whole day and I think it would have shown in the pictures. I tried on many, many, many dresses. Once I found the final dress, I didn't buy it right away; I waited about a month and tried it on again just to be sure I didn't change my mind again lol. Hope this helps you, I completely understand what you’re going through Smiley smile

My suggestion to any bride with dress regret... Go to the bridal boutique and tey the dress on again. Take a moment, close your eyes and breathe. Can you see yourself in this dress (or blinged out version of this dress) at your wedding? Do you still feel like "the bride"?

Wow I had dress regret as well. I fell in love with my dress and as soon as I bought it I started having doubts about it. Your wedding is SO far out so my advice would be to return the dress and keep dress shopping. Your have over a year before you get married and it seems like you did not give yourself a chance to look at other dresses and try other bridal shops. PLEASE try out more dresses because you will be kicking yourself in the butt if you don't. Try on your dress one more time and if you just cannot picture yourself in it on your wedding day then its not the one

Do I know the feeling! The dress is absolutely beautiful! However if you are not sure, exchange before your deadline and get your dad's money back. Put the money away and then shop around. If you dont find another dress, you can always buy that one again and it may even be on sale then. Good luck!

If you feel like you want a dress a bit more fancier then go look. Don't settle.. because if you have regret now its just going to fester. Make sure you get what you want.

This is exactly what I was thinking. the dress is beautiful, you could easily add bold jewelry to bling it up.

I love this dress and tried it on as well at DB! I didn’t buy it though because it was my first dress shopping experience and I wanted to see other styles on me. I did buy a belt because they were 75% off and I found one I liked with the dress. I went to a different bridal shop and found a similar dress but way more blingy and I love it.

I say go try on more dresses, and if you change your mind, DB will still have that dress available if you want it!

Go and try on others. It can’t hurt. If you stu LOVE the dress have some bling added! Sew some crystals or beads onto it....

Dress regret is real! I was like you. I bought my dress and a matching veil shortly after getting engaged. It was a sample sale dress a few sizes too small. My mentality was, "It's too good a deal to pass up and I have time to lose the weight!" It came and I just didn't love it like I did before and I was so stressed about the weight not coming off fast enough. I ended up buying my dress for $80 on ModCloth and I felt a lot more confident in a dress that fit better and was more my style. I say try more dresses on and see how you feel. Hope you find something you love! 💕

I actually brought two dresses because I wanted a specific color . I also wanted bling on my dress so I was going to get dress #1 customized. Than I realized it would be cheaper to buy a new dress that had that specific color plus the bling already. I still have to get it customize to everything I want my dress to be. So I understand until you can say you love your wedding dress. You truly won't be satisfied.

Dress regret is REAL!!! Take a moment breathe and then make an appointment and try on a few more dresses. You also can add items to make it more your style as well as get a veil with bling detailing to and that Wow factor!
