Hunting on your Honeymoon

Amanda, on September 28, 2015 at 11:51 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 88

We are planning a two week honeymoon, first week in Caribbean, second week in or around Montana/Wyoming. We would like to hunt (elk, deer, etc) on the second week, and I was wondering if anyone had either been for their honeymoon or in general, and what advice you may have for the Montana/Wyoming region. Thanks!!

I have no advice because I don't believe in killing innocent animals for fun, but the Caribbean sounds like a great time!

I think that sounds like a super fun honeymoon! For the hunt, I would definitely find an outfitter or guide service to help you out and make sure everything runs smoothly. I lived in Wyoming for a few years and know a few people in Wyoming/Montana with guide businesses - let me know if you'd like their contact information!

I'm just glad my FH doesn't read these because he would be jealous and try to talk me into this! I would look on hunting forums for a guide like Kristina said.

I know some people who hunt regularly out that way (Montana mostly), but I don't have any advice besides to get a guide like Kristina suggested. I would love to hunt out there one day (elk or bear). Good luck!

And the Caribbean sounds amazing too!

I read your headline and said that's our honeymoon. My FH is an avid hunter and fisherman so when I picked the date for our wedding he said that's hunting season. So we are heading to Michigan so he can hunt on our honeymoon. I will probably go out a few mornings and as he says hunt with a camera. Enjoy your honeymoon and the adventures together!

Aw, there's Melissa being passive aggressive and fighting with her emotions rather than logic or fact. Because I know she's not a vegetarian, so if you want to continue to be proud to be a part of the machine that is factory farming - where animals have the worst life you can possibly imagine, and then are slaughtered heartlessly(instead of pursued appropriately), then go ahead, you continue to be proud of supporting such a horrific culture.

How experienced you? What do you use, bow or rifle? How much money do you have to spend? Some hunts are not cheap - some tags alone are not cheap. I would be more than happy to help you, and like others, would recommend going with an outfitter unless you're familiar with the land and the permitting process locally. Please feel free to message me, as I'm sure no one wants to be inundated with information on tags.

I thank you for providing for yourselves, not relying on big corporate business to feed you unhealthy, antibiotic ridden meat that led a life of fear, filth, discomfort, and disease prior to being processed to death and put on the shelves weeks after butchering. You should be proud of your lifestyle, and feel free to ignore those who feel like ignorance is bliss, when the byproduct of that ignorant is so incredibly horrifying.

Amanda - I can't tell from your post, but are you an avid hunter? If not, have you been before?

ETA I recommend touching base with M or myself if you have any questions. The reason I ask, is that if you have never hunted before, the experience can be a little different - early morning and early evening hours, sitting quitely in the cold for an extended period of time. Hunting is very peaceful and as M said is actually a humane practice. Overpopulation is horrible for animals, they literally starve to death. Responsible hunting maintains the animal population and making use of the entire animal not only respects the animal, it is being a good steward of the kill.

    Soapbox done.

    Hunting sounds awesome!

Looks like there has been some good advice, and I know M is knowledgeable on the subject, and can probably help point you in the right direction.

    (send me some elk! haha)

To top off what OKD said, what she described is very Texas hunting (which I miss, so so much) but Wyoming or Montana you will be hiking. your. tushie off. Unless you're turkey hunting. There are definitely options for blinds and whatnot, but every Texan (including myself) who's come up to hunt in the mountains is blown away, it's so different. Please feel free to reach out to either of us, and again, thank you for what you do.

    Lol

I'm sure she's not going to kill all these animals on her honeymoon and take them home and eat them. Hunting for fun is disgusting.

........ My comments didn't necessitate a response, but that was really your choice? "lol"?

Can't argue with a brick wall, I suppose. Enjoy your chicken nuggets.

And ... yes? I do? Because.... that's what you do when you hunt? Don't comment on a world you clearly don't know one iota about.
