How to word the invitations if the parents are not paying

Christina, on January 21, 2017 at 9:19 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

I have been looking at different ways to word our invitations since our parents are not paying and FH was raised by his mother. Any suggestions

Since we are paying, we are hosting. Our parents names are not on our invitations

You're supposed to list anyone hosting. If it's you, they don't go on.

Our invitation reads "My Name" and "His Name" Would like to invite you to our wedding. Totally left out any mention of parents. No problem. Best wishes!

Ours just say "You are kindly invited to the wedding of" and then the rest of the general invitation wording.

Ours aren't paying but we wanted to include somehow so ours says "Together with their families Heather & Jamie invite you to share with them the beginning of their new life together"

My parents wanted to be able to pay but financially it's just not feasible for them.

We wanted to include our daughters so our say "FutureMrs.DCT and FH together with the daughters, Jane and Mary", then the traditional wording. If you search invitation wording on google, you can find wording. There is also a slight difference in wording if you are having a church ceremony vs. civil.

    Ours say:

    With great pleasure,

    Stephanie & FH

Request the honor of your presence at their marriage

    Etc

Mine says "Together with their families Bride and Groom request the pleasure of your company at their wedding celebration". It is not that big of a deal to me to leave "Together with their families" on it. It can easily be removed though. I think our families are still involve though even if they aren't paying.

    You could say

    Christina Middlename Lastname

    and

    FH Middlename Lastname

request the pleasure of your company (or the honor of your presence)

    at their marriage
