How to travel with a Wedding Dress destination Wedding?

Aurelia, on January 31, 2020 at 11:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
HI Everyone...
So I really need to know if anyone of you has done it before?

So we are traveling with 1 Infant and 1 5 year old.We flying from New York to Jamaica for our destination Wedding.as well all know each person can bring a Handluggage. With Jetblue we have to pay for each Checked in Luggage.Oh and we will also have a stroller...
Is it possible to fit a Wedding Dress in a small hand luggage? And when I arrive I let them steam out the dress anyways..? Or buy a checked in luggage for the dress? We are on a budget and I am really trying to figure out the easiest way because traveling with a newborn is already enough stressfull..
How did you guys do it for the destination wedding?

I have heard of people calling the airline and seeing if they allow you to check it in on the cabin. I would give it a try.

You can lay it in the overhead compartment in a garment bag. If there’s a closet you might be able to hang it in there but that depends on what type of plane you’re flying in and you probably won’t know that in advance.

Mens warehouse also has these awesome bags that fit in an overhead. They are pricey but you could probably get your dress in there of it isn't too bulky!

I've had this same concern as we're flying from Ca to Jamaica for our wedding as well. I've called the airline and was told that if there's a closet available it could be hung in there but it definitely can go in the overhead compartment. I think I would be too anxious with it in the closet unless I'm sitting next to it. So, I will be storing mine in the overhead compartment.

We just got back from our wedding in Cabo and we traveled with a 2 1/2 year old and a 5 year old. I was able to put my dress in the closet at the front of the plane which worked out well. I had WAY too much luggage to manage along with the two children. If I was to do it again I would’ve definitely consolidated a lot more! Good luck Smiley smile
