How to Prevent Wedding Dress Rubbing?

Courtney, on July 8, 2022 at 8:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3
So I just got my wedding dress back from the seamstress after getting it altered. It is a form fitting, mermaid/trumpet style dress with sheer lace backing/straps. It looks beautiful, but the problem is now that the lace is tight to me skin it RUBS. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it makes me skin turn so red. I’m going to be wearing this dress in August heat and am already going to be a bit uncomfortable (and sweaty) so pleeeaase share with my your tips, tricks, and secrets to keep your dresses from rubbing and turning your skin red.

Extra info: the seamstress that did my dress did recommend second skin/liquid bandage, double sided body tape, or scotch tape. I’m definitely willing to try those, but I’m curious to see what all you have tried and how well it worked.

I had a similar issue with a sequin dress. It gave me scratches all over my arms. I would the easiest of the options your seamstress told you about. Because depending on how much you need you don’t want to have to wrap your whole body. Try the double sided tape and kinda go from there. Just to see what works and what doesn’t. Since it will be in August, it could possibly sweat off.

You could try a chafing stick. They look similar to a stick of deodorant. I use one when I'm breaking in shoes to prevent blisters. You might run into the same issues with double sided tape or liquid bandage though as it may sweat off and need to be reapplied.

I think there are products to keep thighs from rubbing together. You'd have to test it on your dress first
