How to plan a Disney World Resort honeymoon.

Bryanne, on October 25, 2019 at 11:38 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 16

I am trying to research this topic but it is not that easy. Are there any suggestions, tips, or tricks out there?

    Hi Bryanne!

If you go to Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons you can request a digital brochure. If you need any further assistance, they should have a phone number, link or email to get in touch with someone. I hope this helps and you find what you're looking for. Congrats on your engaement!! Good luck and happy planning.

AAA is helpful for planning Disney vacations.

We like the Contemporary Resort. The monorail picks you up right in the lobby area so getting to the parks is very easy.

I have the brochure but it has NOTHING to say about prices.

    Thanks!

Do you have to be a AAA member to use them?

I think the prices would be based on what you decide to do while you're there like dining, shows, etc.

I just got back from here for my Honeymoon. Went Oct 7 - 13th. We stayed at All-Star Movies, not bad because all rooms have been updated - it is a value resort and we were more concerned spending money in other places. Buses took forever, at times and we had some other gripes (we, admittedly, enjoyed Universal more). If we had money to spend, Wilderness Lodge is where we would have loved to stay -- we went there for Bass fishing and it's gorgeous.

    - Get Park Hopper.
    - Stay on Property.
    - Dining Plan is worth it
    - "Enchanted Evening" is worth it [$200~ roughly] (gotta book it with the honeymoon people, like PP posted). It's a dessert party & prime viewing of Happily Ever After. Also, it comes with 2 limited edition MagicBands that you can only get from booking that package.
    - Get "Happily Ever After" buttons when you're there (unfortunately this was a big let down on our honeymoon, but apparently they acknowledge it? we had a better time at universal, tbh)

    - Plan your days out. Seems silly, but Disney is huge and going in without a plan can be overwhelming. If you want the most bang for your buck, plan. Lines are long.
    - Reserve Dining the moment you're able to -- 180 days before your trip. Do this for things like Be Our Guest dinner (we did this, I feel it was worth it but it was nearly $200 for us). Whatever else you might want to do that won't be available when you just walk up.
    - Reserve your Fast Passes immediately when they drop. You'll be told the date. I had some issues getting fast passes initially and I was 90 days out. If you plan out your trip, day by day on where you're going to be, Fast Pass selections will be easier to make.

I mean, if you're more-so looking for deals... I'd definitely book earlier than later. You can always continue asking if there are any deals going on, to reduce your package price. Sometimes there's a free dining plan that pops up. Sometimes Costco/Sams does decently priced packages, if you're a member -- you might wanna look into it.

Dates. When do you want to go?

I recommend doing it when kids are still in school. Cuts down line times, usually. Doing anything around Holidays will automatically clog the parks, so be conscious about your dates. There's also predicted crowd calendars you can look at for ideas.

Want to fly or drive? (You'll pay for daily parking for the latter)
If you fly - will you book it separately or with a vacation package? You can do it on Disney's Website (book air, hotel, tickets, dining, etc).

Are you going to book it via Direct Disney, Vacation Planner, or Costco/Sam's type deal? I would always recommend directly, as Disney is more willing to help when you've gone through them. I always suggest the Travel Protection when booking.

I'd go to Disney's website and price a vacation with the dates you're looking for to get a base price going. Flights might not be available yet but you can at least get everything else. Prices will go up, but you'll get an idea.

We're doing the same thing, and a bunch of our friends are giving us advice.

I agree with the stay on site - our travel agent isn't sold on that, but I'm going to insist. I'd rather switch hotels once to go to Universal than miss out on the perks from being on site.

I know that the special dinners tend to book up about 2 years out, so you may need to let that go, but there are so many other things to do.

Plan a nice dinner! we did Yatchmans steakhouse at the Yatch club and it was delish! They gave us Champaign and dessert after dinner (not a guarantee though. But wear those buttons. Yoploy might get pixi dust!!)
california grill during fireworks is also really nice. You can book your dinning at 180 days out (not 2 years). So make a plan now and get to booking at 180 days!
Get a couples massage. They’re not as expensive as you’d think.
Spend time just relaxing at the hotel with your new husband.
Since it’s your honeymoon i would splurge on a hotel and do a deluxe or even a moderate.
Do a dessert party, I’ve heard great things.
Do a tour at one of the parks.
If you stay on property, get your fast passes at 60 days to get the good ones.
Chexk out the Disboards. They have a wedding and honeymoons board that is full of information.
We LOVE Disney. We didn’t do any Disney parks when we went for our minimoon, but did go to Universal for the afternoon for Harry Potter. We left with my husband saying we would never be back. We were there for 5 hrs and were ready to leave. We can spend open to close in a Disney park. I know PP said Universal was better, but in our experience it’s just another amusement park and doesn’t live up to Disney standards. On any aspect, food, rides, entertainment, service, theming, making you feel special (i wore my just married button).
oh and an UBER from the boardwalk (where we stayed) to the city walk was $20ish, so not bad. I wouldn’t switch hotels to go to Universal.
Everyone says Disney is so hard, but it’s not if you’re prepared. Do research and figure out what you want to do before it’s time to book, just food and fast passes. You’ll have to figure out what parks you want to do on what days first. Check out crowd calendars to get an idea of how crowded it would be and the suggested park for each day. If you’re prepared, you will have a magical time.

We went to Disney for our Honeymoon - 7 nights/8 days

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter - it's (obviously) New Orleans themed which made total sense for our relationship, because that's where we started dating and where we got engaged. It has a relaxed feel, and was very quiet (and we had a corner room overlooking the pool, so it's definitely well insulated lol). First tip - add that you're honeymooning to your hotel reservation. It ends up on your Fastpasses as well and whenever you use your Magic Band it shows up.

Get the meal plan - it can save you a lot of money if you like to eat lol. You have to add your honeymoon to dining reservations separately - I don't know why, but you have to call.

The first and last days were 1/2 days because of flights, so we avoided reservations those days and just did Fastpasses.

When we arrived we went to the concierge and got our Happily Ever After buttons. Second tip - GET THE BUTTONS and wear them! Cast Members will tell you congratulations and between the buttons and your Magic Bands you can sometimes get free stuff - I'll tell you what we ended up with at the end.

We made dining reservations at: Le Cellier (EPCOT), Cinderella's Royal Table (MK), San Angel Inn Restaurante (EPCOT), Flying Fish (Boardwalk area), Yak & Yeti (AK), 50s Prime Time (HS), and Hollywood Brown Derby (HS).

We had two sit down dinners in HS because we were gifted the Fantasmic dinner package - dinner at one of three restaurants (the high end choice is HBD) and special seating for the show - SO COOL. But, I really wanted to go to 50s Prime Time (they definitely treat you like family - our server ("cousin") was all "why wasn't I invited to the wedding" - it was fun and the food is good!

So. Cast Members are allowed to give away things to people who are celebrating (when we were there in February for my Mom's birthday, someone gave me an ice cream, because I was celebrating). Don't expect things - people who do, tend not to end up with things - just an observation. We got: a cheese stuffed Mickey pretzel, a churro, glasses of champagne at Le Cellier, seats at Be Our Guest for lunch (they were telling people they didn't have seats until 3, and let us right in), an extra half dessert and champagne at Flying Fish, champagne at HBD - and I'm sure there are things I've forgotten.

Get wedding ears! We wore ours only one day - that day we got audience participation at Monsters Inc Laugh Floor - it was cool.

Have fun planning and let me know if you have any questions. We're Disneyphiles through and through!

I went to Disney World this year for our dating anniversary. Go through Small World Vacations! They're a free travel agency that can tell you everything you need to know about Disney and will price watch for you.

We went in May and stayed at Coronado Springs for a week. I think for just the hotel it was around $1,000. Coronado Springs is a moderate resort, so if you're wanting something cheaper, stay at a value one.

We also got buttons that said I'm celebrating! It got us extra dessert and so many cast members congratulated us.

I could go on and on about our experience if you want but yeah! Use a flight tracking app too like Hopper so you can see when flights are at their cheapest!

OH!! Purchase tickets separately from your room reservation! Use Undercover Tourist to buy discounted tickets. They also have really nice park guides that can recommend daily plans to follow (:
