How to pick with negative reviews?

I have currently narrowed my Las Vegas venue choices down to 4. We want to view them in person before we make a final selection, so while we waited I decided to look at reviews online to see if any of them had huge amounts of negative reviews. All of them have over a hundred reviews and ranked at 4 or more stars, but they also had a few negative reviews that scared me, some with the same complaints (like two complaining about photo quality, etc). FH says there will hardly ever be a business with perfect reviews, that it's about looking at the overall quality of reviews. I try to take comfort that at least two of the venues have a stamp of approval from Wedding Wire or the Knot.

Yet, I can't help but worry a little. This is my big day.

How do you guys handle seeing a few negative reviews for a desired venue?

I agree with FH. Remember, no can please everyone. But if it still bothers you, then knock it down to 2 (or 3) and dont look at the ones that bother you.

I'm glad to hear that. One review said it was in a horrible area of town and homeless people were in the same area that pictures were being taken.

Would you say it was in a sketchy area?

It was still on the strip but past the stratosphere so not in a great area but if someone takes an uber or a taxi literally once you pull into you the parking lot they have it so well maintained you cannot tell. And they take amazing pictures around their property you really don't see the street. As long as no one leaves the property to walk you would be fine.

No business is perfect, but reviews that emphasis the same problem should make you aware that that could be an issue for you. If you still choose a vendor who has a specific issue, plan on how you will deal with it. Putting your head under the sand and hoping it won't happen to you isn't really a valid plan.

Example, I chose a photographer who takes fabulous pictures, and has some wonderful technology uses (I am a computer engineer, so that strikes a chord with me); however, he often consistently has reviews about how he misses important shots/isn't necessarily intuitive about that. We have to go in planning, in advance, what shots he absolutely can not miss. That's not something you can fix after the fact.
