how to nicely word technology free ceremony in program

Monica, on September 12, 2017 at 11:52 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

If you had a technology free ceremony how did you nicely word no cellphones or cameras out of respect for the bride and groom? I don't want any other cameras or devices other than my photographer, I'm open to funny poems and such too

You can keep it simple and just have the officiant announce it.

There is another thread on this that has been commented on all morning.

This is what I use; you can morph it so it works for a printed format.

This is blurry due to how I had to grab it off Facebook and it was a group picture. I will have this out and then our officiant will also announce for everything to be put away before we start anything.

Hi juicyfruit, it would be great if you could set an avatar photo. You’ll get more replies on your threads and it’ll help the community recognize you when you post. This can be done from the desktop version of the site by going to “My Settings”, or you can email a picture to community@weddingwire.com and someone will set it for you.

We bought this off of Etsy and sent it to a printing shop - we have a nice frame to put it in with an easel.

The bride and groom kindly request that you please put your cellphones and cameras away.

"Don't use your phone during my ceremony or I'll throw it in a beer at the reception"

Or "Please no phones, pictures or videos prior to the ceremony"

My friend had an unplugged sign and the officiant also mentioned it. I'm having my officiant mention it before she begins

Your officiant can handle this tactfully. You really don't need signs or poems.

Make the announcement at the wedding, your officiant can do it. Be firm: I have seen way too many shots ruined by someone sticking their arm out to take a shot with their phone. I am also kinda selfish: Our ceremony is 10 minutes, maybe fifteen, that is OUR SACRED TIME. You can live without your phone for that time. We are going to be clear: No announcing our marriage on social media; that is our job!!! Best wished to you!

In my experience those that won't use their phones don't need to be told, and those that will will do so regardless of your sign/announcement/etc

    We said on our website:

"We invite you to put down your electronic devices and celebrate with us in the moment. We have photography covered."

Two persons did not comply but out of almost 100, that's not bad at all.
