How to include our daughter in the ceremony?

Star, on March 15, 2010 at 1:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

My fiance and I have a daughter together who will be 3 at the time of the wedding. She will be the flower girl but I would also like to include her in part of the ceremony. Most of what I have seen online has to do with step-children. Any suggestion on how to include her?

Talk to your officiant and see what they say... My fiance and I have a child together and 2 that are from our previos marraiges but we decided to opt out of including them in the actual ceremony even though they will all have parts in the wedding. I think it mostly depends on religion when including children into the ceremony.

OUr daughter will be 2.5 by the time of the wedding. We are presenting her with a family medallion. The officiant is re-writing the wording for step-children and making it more specific to us. She will also pour her own color sand during the sand ceremony (cross your fingers about how well this will work lol)....

You could also have vows to her as parents. She could even have something she can say I do too.

I would ask your officiant. Ours is putting our daughter in the ceremony. I honestly couldn't tell you right now what he is doing because we made all those decisions three months ago! Been too long! But he is adding her to the ceremony and she is also our flower girl, she is 3 1/2! Can't wait she is going to look soo cute on Friday!

My FH and our daughter will have a father daughter dance additionally we are doing a dance just for the kids. Also you could consider just having her stand up with you rather than sitting down like most flower girls.

Thanks! Those are all good ideas! I think I like having her stand up there with us and having a vow to her as parents.

Thank you for posting this topic! I have been wondering the same thing for awhile. Our daughter will also be flower girl. She turns three about a week before the wedding.

Having her stand with the two of you is great. You can also do a sand ceremony instead of a candle.

My son will be 7 yrs old when I get married and my fh isnt his father, so my son will be walking me down the aisle
