How to include female future in-laws in the excitement?

Charlotte, on January 5, 2022 at 2:48 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 2

I am getting married to the man of my dreams in June and I am very excited!!! I love his family and want to get closer to them in this time. He has one sister, a sister-in-law, and his brother has a serious girlfriend who is normally included in all family gatherings, as well as his mom.

I know some families automatically include their future in-laws (like sisters of the groom) in the bridal party, but since neither my fiance's sister or sister-in-law had each other in their weddings, I opted to just have my closest friends in my wedding.

Any ideas on how do draw the ladies (including his mom) into the excitement? I've made a point to show them my dress even though I didn't bring them shopping, and when they ask questions and I am eager to answer them. I just want to include them and need a little help figuring out in what ways.

If you're looking to include them in the ceremony, you could ask them each to do a reading? Or if you'd like to involve them in planning, you could ask them to help with any DIY projects, or ask them for ideas on things like centerpieces or decor, etc. Otherwise, I think just keeping them in the loop on wedding plans is totally fine!

I would just ask them if they would like to be involved with anything. Not everyone enjoys wedding planning for helping people with their projects, and that's fine. Growing relationships takes time and intention on both sides. Make a point of inviting them out for lunch semi-regularly and talk about whatever comes up.
