How to help guests with travel plans?

Allison, on November 21, 2019 at 3:22 PM Posted in Planning 1 4

I grew up on the West Coast, then moved to the East Coast 5 years ago, where I fell in love, and now I'm getting married in Massachusetts!

I am anticipating that 90/165 guests at my wedding will be out of town and I want to be particularly helpful in terms of letting them get the best deals for travel and accommodations. I've read a lot about the hotel block process but, given the amount of guests out of town, I'm wondering if it's also worth reaching out to a travel agent? Is it possible to set up an equivalent "block" on tickets? Would love to also hear other less-common advice related to helping out of town guests have a good experience.

While I get that you're trying to be helpful to you guests, I'd just let them figure out the details on their own. If you have a room block, or even good suggestion of other hotels in different price ranges I'd just share that.
You have enough on your plate to worry about!

I've never heard of blocked airline tickets, I assume people have points & preferences with airlines (I do at least). I would just have a full wedding website with the nearest airport & what airlines fly into it, local car rental services & information on other transportation options, and two hotel blocks (one nicer one and one more affordable one). We did welcome bags with a pamphlet that had things to do, nearby restaurants, travel information, etc.

I would put a link to google flights on your wedding website as well as a link to maybe like Hotwire or something for hotels.

I do not think there is an option to block off tickets. However I would provide a list of local hotels that range in prices in order to accommodate everyone.
