My fiancé and I are getting married next October and both have big families, which normally wouldn't be a problem but we are both college students and don't have a lot money to spend on a wedding. We would much rather put the money towards an apartment and a better car for me but no one seems to understand that. Everyone in my family is expecting some grand affair because I will be the second person to get married in my family in over 20 years. I would love to be able to have the wedding that they all want but it is too expensive for both of us still in college.
A DIY wedding is not a problem for me. I already had it in my head that i have going to knit and crochet all the flowers, flower girl basket, ring bearer pillow and the favors and our church is letting us have the ceremony for free, so needless to say my biggest problem is the reception. We live in Morris County NJ which is one of the most expensive county in NJ so finding a good price on reception locations is hard.
