How to gather addresses at the engagement party??

Jazmin, on February 6, 2018 at 11:25 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Hi! Any neat ideas on how to get everyone's address in one clean spot besides texting? We're having our engagement party this week, and we're thinking perhaps we can collect contact information there?

Anyone have any cool tips or tricks to guide us?

Thanks!

Jazmin

We used Paperless Post to send out our save-the-date and it had an RSVP function where people could send us their address via email, then we just dumped them into a spreadsheet. then we used that spreadsheet to do a mail merge and print our labels for our invites (this was actually a massive pain in the butt, haha)

My mom is throwing my engagement party and she had the idea of setting up an Ipad with a google sheet for addresses. The party is two weeks from now so I can't really tell you if it will work! I am planning on doing the paperless post route for my other guests.

It was pretty stress free for us to make an Excel spreadsheet for addresses and then just text or message people to ask for their addresses. Our moms helped gather addresses for our relatives and they each just gave us a list of addresses for family that was in the guest list, and we just put those addresses in our spreadsheet. Because they helped confirm addresses for us, we pretty much just had to message friends to ask for their addresses, and many of those addresses I already had.

I would think that if you try to collect addresses during your engagement party, you won't be able to relax and enjoy the celebration. You'd be constantly checking your address sign up sheet to see who hasn't done it yet, and you'll spend the party going up to people to remind them you still need their address.

That's a good point! I do want to try and enjoy the party moreso than focus on the guestbook.

Did your friend really have to watch it much, or she just let the guests kind of figure things out?

Not at all. They had some of their engagement pics on a table with the book. There was a small sign that said would you please sign our book and provide the newly engaged couple your address

I just asked my mom, FMIL and FH husband to gather up addresses for their "people" and I gathered addresses for my "people" and put everything into the Wedding Wire guest list. It was pretty stress free getting everyone to help out.

That sounds like a good idea too! I think having others help will make things a bit easier. Do you think WW's guest list is easier than an excel doc??

I used a notebook that also contains any notes I've taken in regards to wedding planning. As guests arrived, I greeted them and mentioned the notebook and asked them to write down their name and address. Simple and easy!

I'd gather their contact information then inquire about addresses later. You may change your guest list before your actual invites are out. Get their phone numbers or emails in the time being. You can also get a guestbook. Thats generally where people sign their name and address.

Note Card Guest BookHow to gather addresses at the engagement party?? 1

How about using a cute address book as the guest book? Or note cards like the pic. Would come in handy even after the wedding.
